My local cigar shop will sell a box for $150, but I can find the exact same thing here for $50.
Even seconds.. I love the rocky Patel 1992 Box pressed, my local store sells them $15 EACH, I can get 15 seconds for $40 here.

Again, why are cigars so affordable here compared to local places, or even other websites? This place is a heck of a lot cheaper than even other websites like *** .

I found a box of nub cigars here for under $50, but I saw the exact same thing for over $120 at stag tobacconist in Colorado Springs, my local shop.

A second question:
How is the quality of the 15-20 bundle cigars of less-known brands with no bands on the cigars and no real box to speak of?
Up to know I've only tried popular brands, but have never had any cheap, no-band cigars, I don't really want to get stuck with 20 gross cigars. How reliably decent are some of these?

I just recently got into the hobby, and my first humidor was one of those tiny 15 cigar boxes, for $50 locally, and I am seeing 150 cigar beautiful humidors for $70. I feel like such an idiot for overpaying.

My local cigar shop will sell a box for $150, but I can find the exact same thing here for $50.
What's your point?

Even seconds.. I love the rocky Patel 1992 Box pressed, my local store sells them $15 EACH.
RP suqs.

I can get 15 seconds for $40 here.
Big deal..............I get 45 seconds for FREE..........it's called a wife.

Again, why are cigars so affordable here compared to local places, or even other websites?
Because cbid rocks ya silly n00b.

This place is a heck of a lot cheaper than even other websites like xxxxxxxxx.
No competitor references n00d!

Your local shpo is trying to rip you off..................walk in and tell him you can get them cheaper on the Internet................I doubt he knows about it.

A second question: How is the quality of the 15-20 bundle cigars of less-known brands with no bands on the cigars and no real box to speak of?
They're awesome...............bid often, and do not lose a bid.......it's a sign of weakness........being a n00b, you need to come out swinging.

Up to know I've only tried popular brands, but have never had any cheap, no-band cigars, I don't really want to get stuck with 20 gross cigars. How reliably decent are some of these?
Why are you asking the same question twice n00b?

I just recently got into the hobby, and my first humidor was one of those tiny 15 cigar boxes, for $50 locally, and I am seeing 150 cigar beautiful humidors for $70. I feel like such an idiot for overpaying.

There's a 40% sin tax on all tobacco in CO. In fact the tobacco tax is more than the MJ tax.

Leave. Now. For your credit score and sanity's sake.

Too late probably. Get another credit card, google or search on here "coolerdor". Just do it, don't mickey mouse around with tupper-dors, more small humidors....just make a coolerdor. or two. Heck, three.

Introduce yourself properly. Pancakes or Waffles? Gladiator Movies or Jade's Mom? Search "The Thonginator" and read the N00b and acronym threads.

Oh yeah, buy 5ers and samplers and try them all. What I'm partial to you may think "inhales forcibly" and vice versa....except for the AB seconds. Don't bid on those. They're all dog rockets being passed off as ABs. Honest. I'd never lie to someone about AB cigars or MOWs and then bid on them. bwahahahaha

I have read all the responses, there's over 20 and not a single person has answered any of my questions to my satisfaction.
Here are all the responses:
Noob,
Don't shop here, all the cigars are fake,
You're too stupid to be smoking cigars or using this website,
The cigars you mentioned are garbage, noob

No one has actually answered my questions..

This isn't world of warcraft, there is no such thing as a "noob" here.

Is it really as simple as- my local shop is just grossly overpriced and the cigar prices here aren't cheap, the prices are normal and it's my local shop that isn't normal?

I don't bid, I only search and purchase through quick buy. I would rather not spend lots of time bidding in an attempt to save a few bucks.

I also have another new question: are any of the cigars here fake, or of poor quality for the brand?
I'm serious, I want some serious and honest responses to all my questions, including my original post. No stupid crap from bored people that think they are expert aficionados and are above me. I would like a serious, detailed, and informative answer to all my questions please.

Wasn't this question just asked the other day???

I'm no expert but I have been here long enough and read enough to understand how cbid works. Maybe I should've stomped into the room and demanded answers like you??

CI is a huge company with a gigantic inventory. They buy huge amounts of cigars, some sell out fast and some don't move as fast. The ones that are taking up warehouse shelf space and not selling get shoved over here. The cigars are put on auction and the azzhats bid on them. Better to get a small ROI right now than it is to wait for it to sell. Cbid makes money and we save money over retail. Shpos still have their place and I love visiting my local shpo only problem is it's 130 miles away

Shpo = shop since you won't know what that is either ya friggin noob.

I think what is being said here, collectively, is the gars are good but the shpo is nice too.

In sum, you ever stopped at a gas station for milk? $5-6

Grocer? $2-4

Glass of milk at IHOP? $2/no refills

PANCAKES OR WAFFLES NOOOOOB?????

Tip? Order coffee and say you take milk in it. Just keep drinking the milk. Free refills.

Better tip? Get Trish to approve your platinum membership and do box buys. Platinum members get free refills too

Hi Stephen – I’ll attempt to answer your questions. CigarBid is part of a large group of companies that share a fulfillment center. We have anywhere from 25-50 million cigars in our humidor at any given time. We also have thousands and thousands of cigar accessories in stock as well. When you purchase in these quantities, you get tremendous volume discounts – the type of discounts your local retailer can never achieve.

CigarBid is one of the outlets we use to sell this product. Because you can basically name your own price, you can get it much lower than at your regular retailer. You can’t do that with the other companies within this conglomerate which is what makes us unique.

Contrary to TJCobra’s post, this is not an outlet for only slow moving merchandise. Many of our top sellers, including Man o’War, Diesel and 5 Vegas are sold here. What you won’t find here is many national brands and many of the larger, popular boutique brands. They’ve put a moratorium on selling their cigars at a lower price though on-line retailers and brick and mortar retailers. This is called MAP, which stands for Minimum Advertised Price. Since you can name your own price here, it would be lower than MAP so we can’t sell it.

As for those no-band, lesser-known bundles, only you can say if you’ll like them. The quality will be the same whether you purchase them from us or your local.

Remember that all businesses need to make a profit. Your local may not be purchasing directly from the manufacturer as we are and therefore need to charge a higher price. As Puff said, there is also the convenience factor. You can stop in there to pick up a smoke when you’re low and not wait for your next delivery. You can share a smoke with other like-minded individuals – there’s nothing that bonds you like sharing a hobby that 90% of the world wants to obliterate! HA!

Welcome to our little world of AZZHATTERY. These guys can be jerks but they are also among the most generous and giving people I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering. If you want to hang out, please check out the noob/vet thread on the trades board. Get yourself a vet who can answer your questions and guide you on your search for the perfect cigar. But be warned – you have to have thick skin to deal with these guys. Like I said, they are a bunch of azzhats! whip

The fact that you state "there is no such thing as a "noob" here" proves that you are a noob to this forum and don't understand the group or its ebbs & flows.

Stephensg wrote:

I don't bid, I only search and purchase through quick buy. I would rather not spend lots of time bidding in an attempt to save a few bucks.

What is simple is that CO charges a 40% tax on all tobacco - think I've stated that before! You live in the State and should already know that!! d'oh!
CBid is a HUGE company and buys in bigger quantities than your local B&M.
It's not rocket science and shouldn't be difficult for you to figure out.

Stephensg wrote:
I also have another new question: are any of the cigars here fake, or of poor quality for the brand?

None that I would consider fake, but brands of poorer quality are subjective to your own tastes and budget.

You want some serious answers - show a little respect to the board and it's members and don't insult them while asking for answers. If you're going to participate then you're going to need a much thicker skin. So far you've been let off easy. Be grateful Z's Mom is watching!
