I did some searching of the forums with no luck. In your opinion, what is the best bargain bourbon? Best value, most bang for buck, etc

I'm feeling Elijah Craig right now. I can't beat it at 27 a bottle.

Like you said Elijah Craig... or... Buffalo Trace. Even cheaper and I think tastes as good if not better.

Buffalo Trace has been my go to bourbon for years......smooth taste with a slight afterburn and fruity finish....at $36 it doesn't get much better. however, at $27, Elijah may be the prophet to drink with.

Mithrander... I'm sorry you pay so much man. That's how much I pay for Woodford. Never spent more than $26 on Buffalo Trace...But that seems odd....

I just cried a little. Went to the exchange on base (civilian don't have privileges) and they had Woodford for 22.50 no tax, Knob Creek Small Batch for under 25, and buffalo trace for like 22ish.

Gonna have to find me a vet to make a booze run tomorrow ;D

Mithrandir, those are both tops for me (particularly the Macallan)... it depends on my mood whether it's bourbon or scotch for me I suppose.

had a shot of Trader Joe's bourbon in my travels tonight at a friend's house. Neither of us ever heard of it, but he said he snagged it for 16 clams. Can't believe it but it was smooth as silk, required no water or ice.

Meanwhile, I'm the original Elmer tout and haven't been able to buy a bottle in ages! Even emailed the web site asking where in MA it can be found but no answer as yet. I've received too many gifts and blessings this year to accept a RAOK but would like to make any fair trade or cash for a bottle or 3 iff'n Elmer's elves don't get back to me...I will post in a couple of more days before I give up on them, but if you have easy access, let me know what you'd want to do the deal.

For years I paid $24 for Elmer. Then after he died one shpo near me was able to get 2 bottles and sold them to me for 30. One lucky cbidder got one of them, don't remember who. That was close to a year ago, maybe 6 months, dry ever since.

This morning I heard back from the distillery. She asked me to check off the towns near me from a list she provided and said she'd get back to me...but I have a feeling I know almost every spot she means and the search will fail. But worth a shot. I'll post after her reply.

I've only been to one place that had plenty of bottles in stock and it was an shpo in downtown Bardstown.

Weller is just "young" Pappy Van Winkle and good stuff. Buffalo Trace is also a very good reasonably priced bourbon. Buffalo Trace bottles a lot of the top bourbons. http://www.buffalotracedistillery.com/brands/buffalo-trace Everything they put their hands on is good.

Weller 12, i assume. Also been missing from the shelves up here since the word leaked out about it's value.

My daughter paid over $40 but less than $50 (...won't tell me exactly how much...) for the bottle they got me for Christmas. It sucks sometimes to live in Hawaii.

I forgot to mention Wathen’s Single-Barrel Bourbon. Good stuff if you can find it.

Frank, actually all Weller is young Pappy at least that is what the master distiller at Buffalo Trace told me.

I see someone threw out Weller 12.I forgot to mention it as an under $30 value. Its different from most other bourbons as its a wheated style.I always have a bottle on hand as a change up bourbon.Very smooth

I finally tried Weller Antique 107 here while back and really liked it as well,in that under $30 range also.Cant go wrong with that WL Weller line at all.
