Tge Odysseys were ok, but felt like the blend wasn't quite right. Tasted like it belonged in the $2 category.
My OR Genesis are being weird. Several months back I opened my half box from about a year n a half ago and they're almost dripping with oils, even seeping through the cellophane and sticky to the touch. Very fragrant cedar aroma on them. Very heavy cedar spice flavor when smoked too. Not sure if its from the box or the cigars. Has this happened to anyone else? I've not seen that with any others, but my experience is limited.
hmm.........
Most of mine (100+) are stored "loose" in various ventilated trays (plastic or cedar) in my cooler.
I have a "no scent" policy with boxes.
When a box comes in, I remove all the cigars and check them out.
Then I do the "sniff" test......and if I get ANY weird aroma, whatsoever, that box doesn't make it into my cooler......cigars are moved to various trays. Less than 1/2 of the boxes I get pass the sniff test.
Some boxes still reek of lacquer, others just don't smell right, wood is too wet, etc.
I have one box of Toros from May, 2014 buried deep in the cooler........I'll check it out soon and report back.
The aroma coming off my Genesis (in the trays) is amazing. Very sweet citrus aroma on the body of the cigar, with a rich, somewhat musky tobacco/barnyard scent from the foot. No oil seeping, and no heavy cedar aroma or cedar flavor when smoking. And they are smoking very nicely.
