Gov.Wolf is going to kill us in PA with this tax. CI/CBID will just tack it onto our bills. Hell we have to pay sales tax also since CI/CBID is located in PA.

They even tax us on the shipping fee.

Same as the CO tax.
Ironically MMJ is only 15%, and recreational is 25%. Both cheaper than tobacco LOL!

It's the Liberal's war against anything they think is bad for you.

The bigger issue (if you can imagine that) is the tax on the product already in our warehouse.

Yikes! 60 million cigars would make a hefty tax, I'm sure.

A pretax blowout sale....this could be really big!! And if you want to come to Florida, the mayor of Tampa will give you the cigar key to the City. He has been on TV smoking a cigar with Eric Newman. WE HAVE SOME BIG EMPTY CIGAR FACTORIES FOR SALE.

As long as we can snipe jobs and gain increased property values from other states, especially cold and dreary ones, we will do just fine.

States that are run well are scary anyway.

Will grandfathered sticks sell for less after the tax or do prices go up across the board? An interesting business choice.

And that is why a major competitor that shares my handle's initials has B&Ms around the country, but all internet and catalog sales are out of NC where there is no Cigar tax. I wonder if the staff of CI/CBid are ready to relocate?

Of course they go up after. Ever try to maintain two inventories of same line item at two different prices? Recipe for the most incredible frustration.

Pennsylvania is not a State. It's technically a Commonwealth. It's also why they get away with some absurd taxes.

The 1% Sales Tax in Allegheny County to cover the Johnstown flood, that happened over 100yrs ago and in a completely different County, is one.

The Business Privilege Tax is another. A Tax on businesses just for the privilege of operating a business?!?! I always called it the "paying Uncle Guido" tax.

So much for a "government based on the common consent of the people"!

Well, that's your problem right there.

You need a bunch of cigar loving lawyers to fight for a cigar-related business.

I'm pretty sure the extra 1% sales tax is from the 3 rivers stadium but they added a tax to gas a really long time ago for the johnston flood.

The additional 1% Sales Tax in Allegheny County has been in effect long before 3 Rivers was imploded. The 2 new stadiums they jammed down everyone's throatwas a separate, additional tax hike, especially to City residents.

Ran into a similar situation a few years back in Connecticut. They taxed all of the unsold finished goods the manufacturer had at their plant. Almost put them out of business. Since that day the manufacturer ships all finished product to another out of state warehouse twice a week to avoid paying the tax on unsold goods. Its crazy and double taxation because the states collects sales tax on the goods when they are sold as well, but only for the point of sale state.

If the tax proposal goes through as you describe, I could easily see the CI folks packing up and leaving PA for a more favorable tax climate.

Technically, you are responsible for all state sales tax on items bought out of state. What that means is that, if they catch you buying out of state and not paying the state tax, they can, not only make you pay it, but tack on fines and penalties as well. In a particularly egregious case, they might even add jail time. Some states have "reciprocal agreements." That means that you had better pay the tax. In most cases however, it is unenforceable. That does not mean that they won't devise some means of finding out, in the future, who buys what, where. Brick wall

Gov. Tom Wolf is a SHEEP IN A WOLVES SKIN...

That guy looks like a goofy bearded introvert
but he is a scheme-ing TAX INCREASING
NIGHTMARE....

CORBET was an under the table bribe taker...so as long as he got his cash deposited at Dubois First National Bank basement vault safety deposit boxes
he left everybody pretty much alone....tax wise...
he did raise the gas tax to pay for highway rebuilding
but it is graduated and hits everybody...

this Wolf guy wants to "single out " certian industries and products and friggin start taxing non taxable items at 100%-600% increases , what a moron.

I heard Platinum Members will be assessed a one time fee they should be easily able to afford due to their consistent drunk overbidding. One less purchase each=warehouse cigar tax paid.

And if a few sent in their platinum and diamond chipped membership cards? Opportunity for a few of us to finally move up to those hallowed ranks.

How about this one? I ordered a box of Cuba Libre Coronas early in the week from the mothership. I then ordered another box on Thursday, knowing that is the day they usually ship orders out. My thinking was that I would get two different shipments a week apart and I wouldn't get any "heat" from the missus (ok, I am a *****!) I got both orders THE SAME DAY (Saturday) in TWO DIFFERENT BOXES, for which I paid TWO different shipping charges. Now, how hard would it be to put both shipments in one box? I wouldn't have minded the extra shipping normally (OK, maybe I would have) but, since I got them both the same day, I still got "scooped" out by the wife, defeating my original purpose.
