Greetings all!

Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I'm new to the forum (although I have posted once or twice).

Brief background: live in Birmingham, AL and have been smoking regularly for about 5 years, although the frequency has been steadily increasing during that time. Currently maintaining two humis, a small wineador and two tupperdors. Never really been active on any cigar boards and really just expanded to buying online rather than just B&M.

Hope you all have a lovely Memorial Day, taking time to be with friends and family and remembering those who have sacrificed for this country. Tipping my coffee and morning RP Connecticut (only mild in the morning) to those who have served.

Cheers!

Situational- or mood-dependent. No real preference. Not my go-to breakfast. And you?

Greetings......I am a relative newcomer myself. My attitude towards online buying is its gotta be a really good deal and don't forget shipping cost. If my local B and M 's are anywhere close, I'd rather give them my business, even if they are a little more. Saving a few cents per stick is not worth strangling the b and m. We need to continue to support local business.....so just buy more cigars and it works both ways! On line makes most sense on boxes, less so on 5 packs and really questionable on singles. The auctions let you low ball lots of stuff if you can resist over bidding (check out over bidding thread). Enjoy.

Stay away from the waffle/pancake discussion. Next thing you know someone is going to send you looking for the thonginator.

Ha! About the same. My wife's pancakes and my dad's waffles. That's the standard noobie question here btw.

Thanks, y'all! I had an unfortunate introduction to the thongs stir outside of the forum - lol.

I stop in at my B&M every Friday to pick up a few sticks and smoke my lunch. They are quality people. I find it amusing that it never occurred to me to even look online until a few months ago, particularly when I do quite a bit of online shopping.

Same here.......didn't go online till I wanted something I couldn't get local.....opened up whole new world. First on line buy was Curivari Buenaventura then Las calavaras.......then devolved to more common but discounted stuff.

Similar story. I stuck predominantly with Perdomo (one of the first brands I tried) for about 4 years - good smoke, consistent quality, in my budget sweet spot of $6 - $12. Still love my Perdomos but expanded out to explore spicier offerings. Easier to find the more obscure online.

Welcome to the madness.
A couple of thoughts.
1) If you don't already have one, grow a thick skin. Folks here can dish it out, most of it in jest and good spirits. Just laugh it off and dish back.
2) Smoke what you like. Folks here have pretty strong opinions on what are good cigars and which ones aren't. Remember, just because somebody likes/dislikes certain brands or cigars does
not mean you will. Try that cigar for yourself and make up your own mind.
3) Before spending on that box, try a 5 pack or a couple of singles.
4) The search option can be your friend. It'll answer most questions.
5) Most of all have fun. This hobby/addiction can be very enjoyable. I've made quite a few friends here; some I've even had the good fortune to meet and share good cigars and times with.

Again welcome and have fun.

I'll try to keep my skin as thick as possible, and regarding spanking, have you been talking to my wife? Wait, did I just type that?

Thanks for the welcome wand advice, everyone. I do not camp and have no idea what one-ton or Wun Tun chips are, so I suppose my preference is TBD.

My desktop holds my Fuentes and unicorns.

I put em off until I learned proper appreciation for cigars. Once I did start smoking them, I really really liked Fuentes. So the remainder stays with the unicorns and high dollar smokes, because my cheap azz isn't gonna replace em.

They come out on occasion.

Actually will probably burn through a few this coming weekend for a track event my friend recently started. Gridlife.org I'm known at the track as the cigar n beer guy. Always have coolers packed with homebrew and three straight days n nights I'm never without a cigar. Break out the good stuff for track days.

Save the self-promotion for another post.

This is about Palama bombing a clueless noob before he's even had a chance to sign-up for FGM's noob/vet trade.
