Welcome SmokeMonkey. Enjoy the madness. I am an over-the-mountain B'hammer. Work downtown. Been off the boards with some personal issues but welcome.
Palama is an outstanding BOTL so if he is offering chips, I would take him up on that before he changes his mind. You will thank us later. Just reinforce your porch first.
Hope you decide to stick around. Go to the trades thread and get on the Noob trade. If I can be of assistance, PM me.

I'm OTM as well. Worked downtown until a couple of years ago, now in the Colonnade area, which gives me about a 10 minute commute. Much better!

Which B&M do you frequent - one of the two out on 280?, One of the two in the Brook? The Briary or somewhere else?

C&M 280 is my go-to but I will occasionally go to Belicoso in Hoover.

This place sucks. Everyone here thinks they have "the answer" and for modesty purposes only they put that it's just their opinion (to make you think they are modest only to increase their sense of self-worth/others perception of them). Often times you'll see a sarcasm sign which is a load of crap too. Those equal the same as, "I don't mean to interrupt but..." which of course means that denial is strong in them. There's only one great people on here and they all reside outside of Texas, Florida, and Michigan.

Enjoy.

Hmm, actually have everything ready except for the backscratcher...so sad...what's a Palama box without the b.s. (...pun intended...)? Well, lemme think about this a bit longer or check other Chinatown shops for a similar device. Regardless, I will post up the DC once it's ready to launch. And don't worry Chris, your porch will be relatively safe...this time. Whistle

Greetings......I am a relative newcomer myself. My attitude towards online buying is its gotta be a really good deal and don't forget shipping cost. If my local B and M 's are anywhere close, I'd rather give them my business, even if they are a little more. Saving a few cents per stick is not worth strangling the b and m. We need to continue to support local business.....so just buy more cigars and it works both ways! On line makes most sense on boxes, less so on 5 packs and really questionable on singles. The auctions let you low ball lots of stuff if you can resist over bidding (check out over bidding thread). Enjoy.

Stay away from the waffle/pancake discussion. Next thing you know someone is going to send you looking for the thonginator.

I live in the Poconos so there is no "local" B & M within 14 miles. I have had bad experiences with B & M's, so I mostly buy online. One B & M follows you around to make sure you don't "handle" the merchandice. He even keeps the humis locked so you can't handle the merchandice and the cherry on top of the sundae is that you're sure to get a political speech anytime you enter. The others in the area are either way overpriced or they are run by people who know less about cigars than noobs. No thank you; I stay online. Sad

Got a call from my wife last night - I'm out of town - that it appeared alarge hand grenade had destroyed most of our front porch and a good sized box for Hawaii was in the middle of the crater untouched.

I warned her to handle it with care and that I would take care of it when I get back today. Can't wait to see what it holds!

After arriving home I can definitively confirm that my porch was destroyed by a Hawaiian bomb. Conan absolutely demolished me with a variety of Aloha State goodies, accessories (the cigar sort - get your minds right!) and a fair few cigars - none of which I have tried before! I'm blown away and appreciative. Someday, when I'm a grown monkey, I'll do the same to someone else.

In the meantime, I'll let these acclimate to Alabama, then take several with me down to the beach in a few weeks. This has been one lucky monkey reporting from Birmingham!
