Has anyone had problems with Rocky Patel cigars unraveling? I have had issues with all the Rocky's I've bought from cigarbid. I keep my humidor at the proper temp and humidity but still have problems. I also noticed that the Rocky vintage 1992 looked much lighter in color than the the ones at my local cigar shop. What's up? I only have this problem with the Rocky's I've bought from cigarbid. My inclination is to cease buying any Rocky from here.

I have had unravelling issues with the RP's I have smoked. I have only tried the sun grown's but all of them started to come undone about 1/2 way through. Now, I have not had many, maybe 5 or 6 (purchased at different time/shops 2 at a time), but I also noticed inconsistency in flavor with those that I have smoked. Because on my limited experience with them, take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

Yup. Classic case of the internet cigars.

Ask any shpo... they'll tell you.

Never bought any so my answer would be no.

Are you sure you aren't cutting too much off the head?

And RP sucks. He used to have some good stuff, then he turned into a prick and put out like 500 different labels. His shpo in Naples Florida is nice, but with the exception of the dude running the humidor the staff are picks too.

You wonder how he's NEVER RAN OUT OF WRAPPER for the Vintage 1990 or vintage 1992?

With some obvious exceptions, store-bought cigars are not any better than an internet source, especially those from CI. Internet bad guys are well-known and have been ID'd many times. I have also gone to local shops where the cigars were under-humidified and others whose cigars were over-humidified. I have visited retail stores that had Acid cigars stored in the same humidor as the Fuentes and Padrons. I have had so many problems with RP over the years, including store-bought sticks, I have (long ago) given up on Rocky. They are just not worth the trouble. The worst RP I ever smoked was the Rocky Patel R4 followed closely by an Indian Tabac Cameroon that started unraveling the minute I lit it up.

Couple shpos I've been to, including the most local one, like to tell their customers that the lines they carry are for B&M only and can't be sold online. That was the joke. Poking at shpos.

Rocky has not been the same since he split up from Bullwinkle. I think he outsources to Boris and Natasha.

In all fairness, he made it publicly known over a decade ago that they ran out of the original vintage capa leaves a few years into the production, and rather than end the lines, he was just going to use allegedly aged 10 year and 8 year leaves instead, so the vintage rolls forward roughly every year.

Too many frigging cigars to figure out and my beef is they taste very similar with no standouts.

No, that was Mr. Peabody. Rocky has talked Sherman into bringing back some leaf.

I found the best way to deal with a Rocky Patel is when you clip the cap, throw the rest of the cigar away and just keep the cap. Your unraveling problems will be nonexistent after that.

Me either. I met him a few years ago. It didn't take me too long to realize he didn't need me buying his cigars.

I have not torched a Patel in prolly 4 years. Most of the offerings were not enjoyable to me.

I did enjoy his sungrown with the red band from several years back, though. Don't recall much of a construction issue there.

I had a few a few years ago that weren't bad, but trying a few newer ones last year turned me off on new buys. I seem to remember that Q like the Cargo line- but has since changed his mind.

I had a few Edges several years ago that were decent. Then only ones ive had recently are a sungrown and a Connecticut, both of which had draw and other non-wrapper construction issues.

super ligero is a hot seller... lots of good feedback on them...

I've smoked two and found them to be typical of rocky patel with a predictable flavor profile... not a fan...
