So, rummaging through the walk in at my local today. This guy has so much inventory, I think he has forgotten half the stuff he has, been in business 47 years! Anyway, find a box of DPG "black edition" 1970 belicosos! Talked to the owner, he says, wow, havent had one in years, 100 bucks for the box if you let me have one to smoke tonight. Score! Block lettering, trying to make out the date on the box, either 2000, or 2002 I believe.

Upon some research, the box code must be from 2006, or 2008, since 06 is when they were introduced. Anyway, super yellow cello, good condition, smoking one now, fantastic, typical dpg spice, but very smooth. No harshness at all. I have had the newer version of this several times, and this one is definitely a step above.

Lucky dog!!! Wombat put one, a robusto, from '07 in a blind review box-pass (despite rumors to the contrary, he can do a great box-pass) and it was a tremendous smoke!

DPG blacks are one of those cigars I always check for at random shpos. They have aged really well and are usually really reasonably priced. Always look for the block letters. I have even got the odd block lettered single here when buying singles. you never know. ThumpUp

Thanks guys, I will do some humidor tetris at his shop again next week! I also recently found the 10 Tat lancero sampler box there also, got it for 75. Like I said, he has a massive inventory. I will keep searching. Funny thing is, he is a big time davidoff merchant, and those are kept in a seperate large davidoff display humidor. ( like a big wall unit, 8 feet tall and 12 foot long) So about 70 percent of his customers never even go in the walk in humidor, oh well, more for me!! I love watching the elitists pay 400 plus dollars for their box of davidoffs while I get deals on what I feel are better cigars for a quarter of the price
