Question about boxes

Hello, new to cbids and I have a question about box bids.

I've been seeing boxes that retail for ~$40 won for $16/ea. Am I mistaking something or are people actually getting 20ct. boxes for nearly half price?

20 count boxes at the prices you describe probably taste like they're packed with dried gorilla dung mixed with whale sperm.BUT to each his own.

It's always good to have a box of of these fine smokes on hand, so that you have ammo to take on that annoying, chronically mooching, brother-in law.

Don't write it off just yet. Gurkha ages it in treasure chests while slaves fan it with banana leaves for a decade and if you're lucky you can get it at 93% off msrp.

Also note that "boxes" does not necessarily mean they come in a cigar box.

Or maybe the price is for an empty box.

There's deals to be had. Ship weekly and keep an eye on your shipping costs. The deals aren't always the deals they seem once you start adding up the shipping. Oh...and MSRP means nothing....quoted retail prices often mean little.

Yep.....

After paying the initial fee ($5.95), the "Shipping Savings Program" kicks in.......you have to pay attention.
The same cigar, will have a different shipping cost, depending on if cbid calls it a fiver, a sampler, if it's on Free Fall, or sold as a single, etc. And those 4 cheap cutters you won for $4/ea??...........you will be paying $1.00/ea to ship those........Think

In general, based on my experiences, shipping costs here are more, and sometimes MUCH more (as in 3+times as much) for similar orders, than the other popular places.

I don't scare that easily, I've just been busy lurking on some deals and trying to avoid overbidding.

From what I understand, as long as I set my shipping frequency to, lets say, Tuesdays, I'll only have to pay the highest shipping cost of all the items I've won?

For example, if these are my lot wins for the week:

- Box of 20 - shipping cost: $6.95
- 5-Pack - shipping cost: $4.95
- Single - Just kidding

Then will I only be paying the $6.95 for them to ship together?

There are incremental adds after the highest amount. So you won't pay only the highest individual shipping cost, but you won't pay the combined total either. Somewhere in between. I find it quite seasonable, but others think it's a bit high.

Meh, for some of the deals we're getting, I can't get mad at that. Thanks for the info!

Cost would be $ 6.95 plus 0.50 and .025---$ 7.70 total.

Fave trick I saw a guy do......he had a mooching friend, always sucking cigars from him. And always wanted his top shelf cubanos etc. So this guy began saving his rockdogets, and wrapping his old cc bands on them, then handing them to the moocher whenever he appeared. Of course the moocher did not really know much about cigars, and he always raved about how good the Cohiba or MonteCristo was smoking that just got handed to him.
