I have seen these in bass pro catalogs and just laugh. Who knows, they may work great. It just seems a bit silly to me.

Fortunately we hunt on an 1850 acre tract that has a house and everything else you need. So when I harvest a deer, I'm only a short 5 minute ride from the skinning shed. I never field dress my deer. I can have a deer from hoof to cooler in about 30 minutes.

But you should give it a try. Let us know how it goes.

Just make sure if TW comes to visit, this is not safe to use as a butt plug.

You don't field dress your deer? Wow you are asking for spoiled meat. The butt out woks great to remove the piss gland so when you are field dressing you don't hit it by mistake.

Spoiled meat???

I think you missed how quickly I am able to put my venison on ice.

If I didn't have to benefit of a skinning shed and running water, I could understand field dressing.

And the way I skin a deer, the piss sack is never an issue. I hang my deer upside down. Back straps removed first. Then shoulders are removed. Next are the loins. Then I debone the hind quarters.

I think Ray Charles could avoid the piss sack this way.

In well over 25 years of skinning deer, I've never had an issue. And not to boast, but I think that qualifies me as a subject matter expert.

Come to think of it, I never saw both of them in the same room at the same time.

But hey each their own we gut them then hang them for 3 days in our cooler. But 25 years lol I got that much by hunting by myself. If you like cutting while the guts are in it help yourself, plus you are leaving the tenderloin which is one best pieces of meat they have in the rib cage. Do what you want you big deer hunter.

Rodney, is it a reading or comprehension deficiency you suffer from?

I clearly stated I remove the loins.

A coworker of mine was hunting on base. He used the original Butt out in his attempt to field dress his prey. It didn't go well and he made a mess. I wonder if he jerked. Someone had to go save the day and said it was vile.

I am not a hunter. How/why does the meat spoil if you don't field dress? I just assumed deer is heavy and you remove what you don't need to lighten the load you are carrying/towing.

Rodney you are showing your ignorance. You can remove the loins without gutting a deer. I do it all the time!

And I've only cleaned my own deer for 25+ years. I didn't start hunting until I was older.

However I have a 13 year old, Ocho as he's known here, that would be happy to show you how it's done. If you doubt our ability to back up what I say, just ask some guys here that have met Ocho.

Ignorance is laughable, I bite then tell me how you do it my friend if you don't gut the deer how do you get the meat from inside the rib cage? No you think I don't know what I'm talking about, but I know when somebody is laying on the b*ullshat pretty thick and you are my friend. But like I said please show me or walk though the process of removing the loin from INSIDE the RIB cage with out cutting the guts out. Heck my dad had me gutting them at 10 years old and skinning them out too. So I think I know alittle about it but like I said please explain.

Namadio you want to get the guts out as soon as you can unless it is real cold outside then you have a couple of hours longer, but we gut them before we even put them in the truck or four wheeler no matter what the temp is. If you leave the guts in it to long your meat will spoil, heat, gut shot, etc. all factors in what you should gut them asap if you can. But like our friend mattie leaves his in and I don't think I would eat any of his deer.

Well it's difficult to explain without visuals, but I'll try.

The inside loins are not the length of the spine. In fact they are only about as long as your hand.

So when hanging upside down, I cut the flesh that holds all the guts in. This causes the guts to settle into the chest cavity. Thus exposing the inside loins.
The loins are then easily removed without removing the guts.

Oh that sound........

That was me dropping the Microphone!!!!!

Here you go Define gutting =

1.

the alimentary canal, especially between the pylorus and the anus, or some portion of it.

and what did your guy do? GUT it.
verb (used with object), gutted, gutting.

9.

to take out the guts or entrails of; disembowel.

Ok Rodney. You do that.

See if roles were reversed, I would have asked how you did that. I'd be willing to learn. I love learning better ways to do things.

So removing your insults, we just have a personality difference. I'm a learner, you're an insulter. No big deal to me.

I also learned that we have a different definition of "gutting" an animal. You see I thought that meant to remove guts. Well the video illustrated the guts are still connected to the carcass.

But you keep on insulting folks and saying everyone else is wrong. It will serve you well I'm sure.

But just to point out where you were incorrect for educational purposes. (For all those that haven't skinned a deer)

You said " one of the best pieces of meat that have in the rib cage".
The loins aren't protected by the rib cage. They would be behind the ribs.

You said, " the video shows the guy cutting the guts off the deer".
You never have to cut any of the organs. They simply fall due to gravity.

I question what you do with the guts after field dressing? Surely you wouldn't just leave them in the woods. That would make for a VERY irresponsible hunter.

Agree to disagree, loin is at the end of the rib cage. And I guess the size deer in MS is a lot small here than in middle TN. And why gutting a deer in the woods is wrong? But we gut them were we park on the farm. Hey the worms got to eat too.

First can we point out a guy from TN called me a slack jawed sob. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. (No racial). I didn't know you were from TN.

MS Dept of wildlife strictly prohibits leaving carcasses or guts in the woods. It can contaminate water sources and cause disease. Honestly I don't know all the science. I just know it's very illegal.

I don't gut either.
I look at the deer and show him my weapon and they just give up and jump in the freezer all packaged up.

Beat that Mattie.
