Plenty of good Toranos, just not the ones you got.

Also Victor Sinclairs are aweful.

Not a bad place to start....suggest you keep a record of those you like and dislike and why......i like arganese maduro torpedoes for a nice daily smoke........nothing fancy just a nice smoke.......just understand, just like any hobby, it will take time and sampling and talking with other cigar smokers to find your palette. oh yeah, and money too! Good luckfog

They're $1 smokes so you're gonna get what you paid for.

I'd suggest you try Don Pepin Garcia, my father, my father le bijou, Jaime Garcia reserva, el centurion, any Tatuaje, Tatuaje Havana VI series is cheaper but still I like the nobles, Sancho Panza extra fuerte and double maduro are good too (made by padron), a new guy to you would be AJ Fernandez, he makes some good stuff San Lotano oval maduro is very good but since they're map here now I don't buy them anymore. Lots more but that's a start.

Dollar smokes are usually pretty bad.

Bump up to ones that can be had for $3-$4, and it widens quite a bit.

Obsidians ain't terrible IMO, those are the only ones I've tried on your list.

I've tried plenty of cheapies though... enough to know to stay away from cheapies.

Well hell. Wish i had noticed the forum first before the bids. I appreciate the input though wish i had gotten one right. Unfortunately my burn budget is pretty limited with my wife unable to work anymore. But will definitely keep a look out for some of those listed when i can and will keep looking around here to bone up on my info

There didn't use to be a strict time-limit ban on the original Noob/Vet Trade.

Damn Noob!!!
You can't introduce the Thonginator without mentioning the original Noob/Vet trade. FGM used to run the original thread which connected Vets with unsuspecting/uneducated Noobs. FGM has been busy, left some huge shoes to fill, and his humor has been missed.
http://www.cigarbid.com/...F-THE-NOOB-TRADE-THREAD

A lot of the Noob hits where major bombs. I was crushed myself.

I've smoked some of that noob buy. Have yet to find a Torano I like, obsidians are too strong and flavorless, Victor Sinclair sucks, Don Rafael and HC didn't do anything for me. I smoke a lot of crappy cigars when doing yard work and can't help searching for a decent cheap cigar. They are few and even rare in the $ 1 range.

Well at least the reviews are consistent. Cigarbid 1. Me 0.

In the forum rules is where i saw the 2 month moratorium. I threw my name in the hat for the noob pib. Still hesitant

Being underwhelmed by a $1 stick is better than being underwhelmed by a $10 stick.

A lot of us have been there.

I'll admit to being suckered into a "amazing deal" on an assortment of Ghurkas. ...once.

Then I moved onto other cheapos, but started to notice the "good deals" tended to be significantly cheaper than the retail price, but not worth the cheapo price.

Eventually I sent about $250 of cigars I bought to OPFTH and quit buying crap. Sure, smoking is more expensive now, but I enjoy every bit of it, it's rare that I toss a smoke now, rather than it being rare to nub a smoke.

Hahaha thanks Cacman... I hope not.. On a serious note, there are a few that arent to my liking..but as a noob, they have fairly good amount of decent smokes for everyday smoke that wont break the bank.. The Royal Challenge and Evil are prettt good.. If i could afford an A.F New World for daily smoke, I WOULD! (bought a powerball ticket, wish me luck)

Don't listen to the elitist top-shelf snobs on here (OK, do listen to them, but be careful and whatever you do, DON'T GO CAMPING WITH ZRX!)

Start at your bottom price point, pick up 5ers (which you did-that was good, N00B) and keep notes. Find what you like, then experiment on the margins of that. After 6 months or a year, you will have an idea what you like between mild, medium and full and growing regions. Don't go full too fast or you'll get used to pepper bombs or others and mess up enjoyment of milder smokes. AMHIK And don't worry, your assortment leftovers as you taste test would be ok filling out a "CBID 5er" or as part of the annual OpFTH coming up soon.

If you find a cheapie you like for daily/yard gar/dog walking then pick it up in larger bundles. I've scored my cheapies for about $.50 to $.75 a piece on here (plus shipping, often as much as the cigars!).

Get a coolerdor. You'll need at least one, especially if you get some trading cred and a Vet or two decides to bomb you "just for fun". Whatever you do, don't poke Moose Manor without one. You'll feel like a yellow bird with a yellow bill looking at a piece of bread if you do. Again, AMHIK But Jules' 50th birthday is coming up....

Pancakes or Waffles?

You can send to the OpFTH any time.

Usually there is a yearly fundraiser that is always fun to participate in.
