How do you keep track of the age of cigars? With all 5 pks and singles how do you track the age?

You'll never know the true production date so put / tape a band / strip of paper on each of the cigars with the date you received them and use that to gauge their "age."

I believe there is a chart you can download off of the inter-webs that will help you narrow down the age of a cigar by the shade of yellow on the cello wrapper....

Uni Ball Micro pens are great for writing on the cello or the band of any cigar. I can write numbers as small as 1/8" with that pen. Like Palama, for non-Cubans, I write the date (month/year) that I receive them.

When getting 5ers and singles here you never really know the age. I won a bunch of dpg black singles here a while back and some had the old block letter bands, which means they were from 2008 at least, or random stock that got old yellowed bands for some reason. Tag them for your own reference, but they could be from any point in time that the cigar has been rolled.

Aristocrats....
A sharpie on the wrapper works fine. As long as it isn't a maduro or anything like that. Then use white out.

Thanks for the input. Bgz nice and simple! Ones with cello were easy. Writing on the band makes sense to. Think may go with taping an extra"band" for reception date

I figure if I can't remember, it's been long enough.

Some boxes I scribble the purchase month/year.

Haven't bought a non-box pack for a long time. Anything less than a box I'm not really aging. Might sit on em a while, but not years.

It's a lot of work to label each cigar.
I only keep dates for the "important" cigars in a simple Word doc or label the box. Gave up the OCD and tracking every cigar in a spreadsheet a while ago. Some use free Apps available. But for some cigars age isn't a huge factor IMHO

Found it to be much more work than what it's worth. To keep it easy I maintain a separate cooledor just for aging. A 100ct for "regulars", and a treasure dome for CCs and LEs.

Frank... Not only is it way better for aging, it really keeps the moisture in, and provides an entire cigar to write the date on with the sharpie...

Bonus flavor too.

This also works great for non-cello, just write the date on the cap. You're going to cut it off anyway.

I sharpie on the cello with the month/year of acquisition. If there's no cello, I just put them in a pile on a shelf in a tupperadore and wrap a strip of paper around one (like a band) with the info.
