So... I talk to the wife about getting a fishing boat. I show her the one I want, and I lay out all the financial details. Get this... she says it's my decision, she respects my decision... and I deserve it.

WHAT!?? We put down a deposit last Friday, the 17th. This is not mine, but one he had finished for delivery that looks like the one I ordered. Mine will be done some time in August. I'm so damn excited (and nervous).

Congrats! She's a beaut, brother! Love a center console, more room to play a fish.

Oh, make sure you get an aluminum or galvanized trailer. It's well worth the extra cost over a painted trailer,
especially using it in salt or brackish waters.

I bet August can't get here soon enough.

Is it a Boston Whaler?
Sometimes you can get used "whalers"
Way cheaper than the list/new price from rich guys who never took them out of the docks and are practically new At 1/3 to 1/2 the new cost
( they might be 3-5 years old but hardly ever used because the rich pricks were to busy working at their Silicon Valley high paying jobs then only went to the marina and listened to the CD player and got drunk
on the boat At the docks)

I hoped you at least looked around Craig's list or
Those free rag papers "boats for sale" books they give away at convience stores...

Is there a " back out of the sale clause" in
Your order contract?
^^ of not... That is still a VERY COOL BOAT!!
Good luck.

2 - Galvanized trailer comes with it.
3 - I was thinking Yellow Fever? Double entendre...
4 - I know, right?
5 - No way, dude.
6 - Shirt is large, I am apparently larger... hey, it fits everywhere but the arms!
9 - Not a movie set, but their shop is painted like it.
11 - No horn, but I was thinking 'La Cucaracha'.
13 - It's a Thresher 21, not a Boston Whaler.
15 - Day after delivery?
18 - For sure, my brother... she has the patience of a saint.
20 - Not if I want to stay on the right side of the red line... and keep my job.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm really excited, and a bit nervous. Never owned a boat, and never towed anything. I have a lot to learn and I pray I don't screw it up while learning!

Bust Out Another Thousand. I imagine that's the case after a while... but it's got a 3 year warranty, so I just have to worry about keeping it clean and maintained.

It's definitely ocean friendly and where I'll spend most of my time.

I'm finding my camper is just like having a boat. Expensive when I'm not using it, expensive when I am, and a part time job maintaining it.

But it's worth it. For now.

Still want a boat.

Congrats on the new fishing boat Macs!

Looks like 20ft or better. When does Mac's Fishing Guides business start?

Many thanks for the tips on fishing guides in San Diego. My daughter had a great time on her first boat trip!

That's awesome. What boat/landing did you use? H&M? Seaforth? Both are really good. Seaforth has free parking and plenty of it. H&M charges, and there's hardly any. Bastids.

Best advice yet. A lot of states require a BSC and some insurers require this as well.

Very nice.
I'm sure you'll figure some way to thank the wife.
Even if a boat course is not required, I recommend taking one.
Enjoy it in good health and calm seas

MACS will be able to back it up just fine. He can drive a 45 foot bus.
Cool boat tho. I have never wanted a boat. Arizona lakes get really busy.

Congrats!

+100

Recommend that you find a empty parking lot and learn to back it up. Once you learn you can do it in your sleep.

Went fishing with MACS on his new boat this past week-end. N I I C E!!! Had a blast zipping around Mission Bay near La Jolla and then out to the 9 Miles Bank in the Pacific Ocean off of San Diego, and back. Only caught a few small Bonito and small rock fish, but it was a great day nonetheless. Thank you, Shaun!
