Just bought 10 Cohibas and so far the first two wouldn't even smoke. They are so dried out they start fallen apart right after you light them ! Very disappointed !

Hopefully, if purchased during the summer, you let them rest for a little while. If not, you are risking a crappy burn.

I have some Cohiba Robusto's from 06 that have never really became what they should have.......but 06 was an off year for Cuban tobacco.

I have bought Cohiba Black at least 3 times here and they smoke great. Always let them sit in humidor 2 weeks

Just an observation from a very small sampling.....Cohoba Robusto's,Punch Punch and Partagas Petit Corona Especiale. All from 06 and all not nearly as good as their 08 counterparts.I have some Party Shorts from 07 that never made it either.Everything from 08 spectacular, the only other years I have are 09,10 & 12.Some of those I haven't even broke into yet.

In all honesty I just don't appreciate Cuban tobacco as much as I once did. There are just so many DR's and Nicaraguan's that are equal to or better.Construction most certainly is always better. But again this is subjective......if you only appreciate the flavor profile of Cuban tobacco you'll find it no where else. The flavor profile of a good Dominican or Nicaraguan is just more in my wheelhouse I suppose.

Can't say I have found anything that floats my boat like Cubans but I have favorites from all areas for their different profiles.

It's always the same and that includes DR, Nic as well as Cubans. Some boxes are stellar and others are not. IIRC a 50 cab of PLPC from '06 are what made me buy cabs from '08, '09 which were all wonderful. I don't remember '06 as being a down year in general but I guess it depends on which label you were smoking.

I'd say that production quality has gotten a lot better in the last 5 years, sure, once in awhile you can get a bad one, but that happens with every manufacturer.

Me's assuming they were red-dots? Me tried one a year or so ago that had been sitting in me's humidor for several months and it was pretty awful. Squishy and strange. Smoked like one of those "grab bag" samplers :P

Me keep sticks from 65 to 69 via Bovedas. And no, none of the other sticks kept along with the Cohiba had that problem. It was a squishy, bad roll.
