I've got a possible problem. The room I'm keeping my cigars in is a steady 66 deg.. 70/70 is the rule of thumb. Am I ok or am I about to kill my stash? Thanks for any advise you may have.

Why they continue to tout 70/70 as " ideal " is beyond understanding...

Most prefer to keep theirs somewhere between 64-67 R/H and @ or below 65 degrees F

I live in hot West Texas.........I would kill to be able to keep my temps at 65.I usually never get over 75 degrees in the summer but I never let my humidity rise above 65 and prefer 60.This time of year 58-62 is about my norm.

70-70 is an urban myth if you ask me.Humidity at 70 makes cigars fireproof.Good smokable sticks start at 65 and under........that being said I wouldn't go under 55 in the humidity dept

My basement stays at 64-67 degrees all year long and I keep my humidity at 65 for NC's with 65 RH beads and my CC's at 62 RH.

This is perfect IMO.

High humidity equal bad burn, or worse mold (if high enough)

Low humidity can dry cigars out over a long peiod of time, but it has to be REALLY low.

High temps can activate tobacco beetle larvae in cigars (if present) which would eat little holes in all your cigars.

Low temps cause nothing but lower humidity if low enough, again this has to be REALLY low.

Lower is better than higher.

Agree with Z but I would like to add that high temps only matter if they hit 80 which they say is the temp at which beetle eggs can hatch.
