Well, I've been somewhat slowed in my posting over the last year as I have been on a project for work that required me to travel quite a bit, which is a definite change in life style for me. Additionally, much of the travel has been to Toronto, where smoking is evidently all but outlawed.

In addition to not being allowed to smoke inside, patio's are evidently off limits too, and anything within what seems like a mile from a door way. Any way, that, and a constant stream of long work days followed by evenings of over consumption of crown and ginger(its a Canadian thing ehh. .. ) has left little room for the shenanigans of the cigar bid board.

With all that said, I have missed this place a little as well as one of my favorite hobbies of reading others thoughts on cigars as I ponder what I am smoking. So, tonight, I find myself on the front porch after killing off an LFD while doing some yard work, thinking I haven't contributed a review myself in a while. . . As is my traditional style for these, I will be reviewing as I smoke and sharing my notes along the way.

So without any further adieu, I have decided to review the Tat Skinny chuck I just lit up. I have it paired with a bottle of New Holland's Dragon's milk bourbon barrel aged stout. This cigar is a fine looking lancero with a fairly dark and oily wrapper. There is a "veiny" appearance. Pre-light with a bullet cut is a medium tobacco with the smell of cedar. Upon lighting, I get a little leather, a whole lot of rich tobacco and a smooth creamy finish.

Cigar light is nice with a good even burn. Smoking, to about an inch, I'm getting lots of woodsy notes. Some oak on the pull, followed by a little cedar and a creamy finish. Retro hale has some of the pepper notes you would expect, but they are very subtle in what is a very smooth retrohale. The nose, which is a particular draw for me on good cigars is subtle as well but pleasant. Not at all floral like I pick up from a lot of cigar, a little boozy, perhaps influenced by the stout. . . At just over an inch, the ash falls in my lap. I would have expected it to hold better

Now a 1/3 into the journey. the creaminess has left. Got a couple of puffs that were bitter, so I slowed down and the bite went away. The sweet beer pairing is a great choice with this cigar( with a glass of water to help cleanse the pallet once in a while to truly taste the cigar), so far not a lot of complexity. A definite woodsy flavor with a light pepper finish. I tap the ash every inch or so, because I don't want to wear it anymore.

Even with a slowed puff rate, this is a fast burning cigar. Quickly approaching the half way point and I'm only 20 minutes in. I am use to cigars taking me close to 1.5 hours ( even a tat pcr takes about an hour)but this one is not trending that way at all. At half way, getting a little more leather and less cedar. Not a lot of nose to it, but perhaps that's from the humid NC air.

Now 2/3 the way through. This is definitely a fast smoke. Still not a lot of complexity. A good leather/cedar with a finish of subtle pepper. Very clean burn. Medium to full with a good mouth feel. As a lancero, it won't overwhelm you, but you know you've been smoking it. Nose is a subtle bouquet of spice.

lap top is dying so further updates to be done by phone. no editing there so it will be in additional posts. Honestly, not sure there is much else to say about this cigar. Good not great. Not a lot of complexity but good overall tastes. smoke is a little hot in the final 1/3 and the pepper is picking up as I would expect but nothing overwhelming.

Not a whole lot else to add. I'd smoke another, but won't go out of my way to find it

I smoked one of those today as well and felt pretty much the same as you, an ok cigar that I would not hunt down again but smoke if I had.
