Because their cigars are low quality especially the Opus X. You need to send them all to me and i will dispose of them.

This used to be my go-to Fuente site. Now I rarely look at the bid sites for this brand (...and Padrons too...).

Actually I agree with this. I've found all Fuentes I've ever smoked (even Opus X including the "Lost City" variant) to be bland and flavorless, and they range from fairly expensive to very expensive.

Ditto everything Ashton (including VSG and ESG) and Davidoff makes. Same exact opinion, bland and expensive.

No sarcasm here; I'm completely serious. Several of my cigar pals have the exact same opinion about those brands, too. None of us understand why anybody ever buys them, especially at their typical high prices.

Many other guys, however, love them. Palates differ a lot, it seems.

If you tend to smoke ligero laced bombs much of the time, I can see how some Fuentes may seem bland in a way, especially those with a Cameroon wrapper.

But a WOAM? bland? Eh...........your palate must be fried.

I'm just kinda at the point where I'm tired of researching and discovering. I just want a well constructed cigar that smokes reasonable and I don't have to relight every five freakin seconds.

That's all the Opus is really just a good solid Dominican that does it's job. The flavors are subtle but distinguishable. At the end of the day it's a really good Dominican, that's it. Davidoff is much the same way but is usually a bit more sweet.

I'm a huge fan of Nicaraguan tobacco as well as Costa Rican. To me they both have way more flavor than Dominicans. Costa Rican tobacco always seems to hit me with a certain fruitiness and Nicaraguan tobacco is always earthy. But still in that category I'd shell out the money for a Padron Anniversario or a 1926.

I'm just at that point to where I don't want to screw around and just want a smoke that's consistant every time.

Try the Ashton VSG or the ESG,never had a burn issue or construction issue with either.I'm a huge Dominican fan so I might be biased on these, but just love the flavors. YMMV

Nope. We like what we find to be well-made stuff with actual flavor, for example most AJ Fernandez stuff, and a variety of others. We all agree that Gurkha sucks, RP used to be fairly good many years ago, but not so much in recent times.

I've been at this 18+ years, and my pals are roughly about the same. Not newbies. The internet contains countless others echoing this same opinion of ours.... and many others saying the opposite, and worshipping Fuente/Davidoff/Ashton.

Palates simply differ. It's important for new guys to realize this, though, so if they find Brand X bland while everyone else is gushing about how amazing it is, they won't think there's something wrong with them. :)

I find Fuente to be the most consistent cigar on the market, not to mention well made and fairly priced from top to bottom. As a matter of fact it's the only marca I put above Tatuaje and My Father products. If their prices were better they could possibly surpass Fuente ..........but that's not gonna happen.

As someone who had a humidor full of Fuente, DPG, Padrons, HdN & Perdomo's nothing beats a consistent smoke. I had gotten to the point where I rarely experimented. As far as Fuente's being bland, If one smoked lot's of Ligero which I did, I can see where one could fine some Fuente's bland. But, there is a world of difference in a Flor Fina 8-5-8's and an Anejo #48.
