Excruciatingly painful to watch. I admit that I finally quit after an hour. Kaine was insufferable...but I didn't think Pence was all that much better. He, too, reverted to repetition and attacks on Clinton instead of focusing on issues. The 'moderator' ??? Wth was she doing there? Totally useless.
I heard an interesting analysis this morning. The gist was that the dems had already conceded that the 'debate' was meaningless in and of itself; that Kaine's job was to poke and provoke without regards to anything truly meaningful, with the aim of producing carefully orchestrated soundbites and commercial material. To be able to produce commercials that highlight Trump's quotes, 'positions', contradictions and follow them with Pence's words of defense. IDK if there's anything to that, but if so, its kind of brilliant.....recognition that nobody gaf about a vp nominee debate; but use it as an opportunity to 'make' Pence say some stuff that you can use against Trump (and Pence) later.
