I couldn't tell if the event was really no whites or if that is just how fox characterized it. He said no whites but then when he read it he listed off a bunch of minorities that of course didn't include whites. That wouldn't necessarily mean whites couldn't attend, simply the focus would be on those minority groups which makes sense.

Not saying the report was wrong.... perhapse it really says no whites or excludes whites... I just couldn't tell.

Remember when Brit Hume was a legitimate reporter and Oreilly was on hard copy or whatever competing against Maurys inside addition?

I dunno... Think

Asked for additional information, such as whether white students may attend, the cost of the retreat, and about how many students will attend, Melinda Aquino, associate dean of multicultural affairs in Columbia College and Columbia Engineering Undergraduate Student Life, gave a statement on the benefits of the event in an email to The College Fix.

“The Students of Color Leadership Retreat is a long-standing annual program for undergraduates at Columbia and Barnard,” Aquino stated. “The program, which is geared towards any student who self-identifies as a student of color, provides structured activities and guided exercises that enable participants to build community and reflect on their abilities to effect positive change within their own lives, within student organizations, within the Columbia University community, and within society at large.”

Aquino pointed out the Office of Multicultural Affairs also hosts other leadership and community-building programs and retreats that meet the needs of “all students interested in diversity and identity,” including an LGBTQ leadership retreat and an “Intergroup Community Building Initiative” retreat, aimed at creating a more “cohesive” Columbia that affirms “all identities and creates a space for healthy discourse about divisive issues.”

I'll take that as a no.. Mellow

Isn't "white" a color?

In the visible spectrum, white reflects light and is a presence of all colors, but black absorbs light and is an absence of color.
You're welcome.

So... It doesn't say you can't go. What's the issue?

Probably are retreats geared towards bible crap, or engineering or other random crap too.

Stuff like this makes the complainants sound like the whiny child wondering why his little sister is getting a present on her birthday and he isn't.

So by excluding straight white students it helps build a more "cohesive" experience.

Brilliant.

Don't dismiss it.

If even one of their groups were for white-privileged brats only (or even those who self-identified as such), would ANYONE consider it a tool to help build cohesive unity within the campus?

I could care less about exclusive clubs.
But I despise the lies and those who agree with the lies in an attempt to justify it.

Tell me that enough clubs on campus are already too vanilla in their membership. By means of interest or exclusion, it really doesn't matter.
This club is an opportunity to speak about "their own" issues without some white dude (be they KKK or Bleeding Heart) listening in on their jive talk.
Fine. Run with it.
But don't expect me to believe their lying justification.
