Hank,

Lots of good advice above...
And some good jesting too.

The main problem is you have ZERO TIME with
Four young kids and tons of responsibility...

MACS is correct, focus on the positive, Many people are way worse off than you.

Everybody gave excellent suggestions on exercise, food intake, food types, etc...
I'd say QUIT DRINKING ALCOHOL EXCESSIVELY...
ONLY 1 or 2 a day...
Go for walks, that helps tremendously.
QUIT smoking everyday...make CIGARS a weekly treat , or cut way back.
Stop DRINKING SODA, STOP EATING SUGAR OR ICE CREAM...

EXERCISE!!! I know this sounds hoaky...
But those CHRISTIE Brinkley and Texas ranger-chuck norris
"TOTAL GYMS" can be had for a song on Craig's list...
Get the higher end model for cheap that some rich beotch never used... Folds away easy and you can use it at Home.

Psychiatrist's are good for a year or so...if your
Health insurance pays for them, they are experts on ANXIETY meds...sometimes you need a "cocktail"
Of 2 or 3 or 4 meds to get you out of depression...then wean you do down to 1 or 2...
Your family doctor does not have the expertise or knowledge...F#CK PSYCHOLOGIST's...they are WORTHLESS...
EFFEXOR Takes 2 months at least...sometimes 3-4

Hang out with your friends from high school or college once every 2 months or so...go have a beer and bullsh#t , let off steam..
Maybe go hiking, FISHING or hunting with them to
To get away from family...tell your wife you need to do stuff with your friends...not a lot...just a little.

Do projects around the house, fix dumb stuff you've
Been neglecting, sort the garage, purge the attic, have a yard sale in the spring ....
THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IS SIT AROUND DOING NOTHING AND WORRYING...

"IDLE HANDS ARE THE DEVILS WORKSHOP."
.
WHEN YOU DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING it all gets so much worse and you sink deeper and deeper...

CLAW YOUR WAY OUT....

I BUILT A SHED , when I didn't really need one,
JUST TO KEEP MY SANITY WHEN THE
FBI-SSG AGENTS WERE GANGSTALKING ME RELENTLESSLY WITH DOZENS OF SICK BAST#RDS
AT EVERY CORNER OR PLACE I WENT , HARRASSING ME VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY...
Its amazing what your neighbor's will sign on for when lied to and PAID IN CASH... Some turned downright aggressive when paid to do so...they paid my one neighbor off with FREE WINDOWS so an SSG CONSTRUCTION TEAM could harrass me for 3-4 weeks while I came and went with my sick and injured 84 year old mom who was staring dementia...
And they mounted a live feed camera in his house for round THE clock video coverage...THE mudderf#cker
then also got a monthly "site surveillance fee check" every month too...on top of THE free Windows...
THE F#ckers hired my neighborhood crime watch neo-nazi's and would walk up and down my street every 15 minutes ...talking super loud about me so I could hear them through my open Windows...
^^^ TRY LIVING LIKE THAT FOR 2 + solid years..
Day in ...Day out...

Sorry for the LAST RANT... BUT building that friggin' SHED was my life saver ..and one of the hardest things I EVER did in my life because I was BEATIN' down by sick FELONS calling themselves LAW ENFORCEMENT??? 24-7-365

So,
just take all the good suggestions and try to make it through this bad time...

Jones is right. Start with the Shed first and then later use it to store gold in order to build the compound.

Seriously though, if you're that bad off to where you need pills discontinue all alchohol use.

If you begin to feel violent while on pills call the psychiartrist immediaty. The same if you feel like offing yourself.

Thanks Mr. Jones.

In general I don't drink much alcohol. At most 2-3 per WEEK. I don't drink soda or other sugary drinks, pretty much just water and occasional tea/coffee. But with my reflux issues, the coffee has had a serious decline. So not much of any caffeine in my diet either.

I eat pretty well, especially now that I am trying to lose weight. Need to work on cutting out a couple more things and adding more fruits/veggies, but overall I am doing pretty good in that department.

One big problem that I have is my self-medicating using Copenhagen Pouches. They take off just enough edge to be worth it. I say I will quit if I can get the anxiety under control other ways, but it is rough. Tried to quit a few times and didn't last more than a couple days.

I don't smoke cigarettes at all and my cigar smoking is pretty limited as well. Smoking cigars is one of the few things that actually relax me. That and FISHING. It is just so hard to get out of the house with the wife and kids. For the first few years of my kids life I got out a lot, but that hurt the relationship with my wife so I cut back A LOT. That probably isn't helping. I feel like I pretty much do not have any friends anymore. Just my fishing buddy, but that is a very shallow relationship....fishing, UFC/Sports and craft beer drinking. No serious talk.

I really do need to find time to exercise. Not sure how I will do it considering I am already exhausted at all times due to work and dealing with the kids. Like I said, hopefully when it warms up I can get out running. My body doesn't like running, but my mind does.

No , jj ^^^

I'm too broke after my ESSURANCE policies.

Just getting a REAL "kick" outta how sacred
THE 4 CHEESE EATING CIVILIAN RATS
and 6 FBI-SSG CHIEFS AND FIELD AGENTS
on my "PPL" are scurrying around and fretting
big-time ... Now that They know it is real...
Plus,
the other 15 SSG FIELD AGENTS
on my lower cost "PLL" ESSURANCE are fretting
now too...

My H.R. contact's at the Hoover Building tell me that the mental health claims on all those AGENTS are breaking the bank...

YUCK! That stuff and all anti-depressant drugs are just plain nasty! YOU are the guinea pig as they can only "guess" at the medication and dose that MAY work. Unfortunately unlike what the commercials on TV tell you there is no magic pill that will make you happy, alleviate worry, anxiety and stress. There are new techniques that can measure your dopamine and other chemical outputs that can help Doctors narrow down the medication/dose, but again there is no guarantee. There is very little science behind mental health. And once you start taking anti-depressants, it's difficult to get off them. You can't just quit, but instead have to be weaned off them slowly. These meds change your body's chemistry and metabolism.

Some mental health issues can be hereditary. Consult your family health history.

Try changing your diet. Eliminate all processed sugar. Reduce your caffeine intake. Eat high protein foods while reducing carbs and breads. Exercise does wonders for eliminating stress. Doing these simple things will also change your body's chemistry and metabolism.

If all else fails, smoke a fat one!

But in all seriousness, good luck. I've lost a number of friends and relatives due to depression and mental health issues.

Late chiming in here but I think Carl is spot on.

I would go and see your doctor ... Not necessarily a psychologist or psychiatrist but your family doctor.. He or she can help possibly with meds for the short term or longer if necessary. The other helpful opinions here are pretty sound overall. Medical attention however first may help put things in calmer state. One does not need to over medicate but acquire just the right med or meds at the proper dosage were the anxiety depression is more manageable...

Hi
Some meds work others do not depending on the person. If you are feeling no affects from the current medication at a high dose, you should inquire as to what other meds might work for your condition. Google the medication you are on. I bet there are testimonials of success problems, and failures; One size does not fit all.

It sounds like your doctor is doing well starting at s lower dose.it takes a while to kick in as well so give things time. The right dose or meds are probably there

Nope, zero alcohol and can't stand smoking of any sort. Some would call her a prude, but she is just strong in her faith and doesn't need those things to make her happy. I try to get her to taste different beers and other alcohol and she thinks it is disgusting...so that is part of it too. She can't stand being close to any smoke. She is a pretty pure chick when it comes to stuff like that. haha
