Virtual all-school staff meeting Friday
Virtual senior class meeting yesterday
Virtual lower grade department level staff meeting today
Virtual “hang out” with the kiddos
Virtual coffee chat with the librarian

All for virtually zero actual human interaction,

I’ll have a little Irish in my coffee, please.

And a virtual hug. Definitely got a hug deficiency going on with my kiddos gone.

We walked in there Saturday and they were asking everyone, "Would you like toilet paper?" and had a huge stack right inside the door. I told the guy "No, why in the hell would I want toilet paper, we buy some once a month! How much does one couple need? You on commission?"

He and everybody in earshot stopped and stared for a moment, half laughed and then they all moved on. My wife was mortified. She gets that way a lot. Not talking

All public schools are soft-closed and have gone to e-learning for the remainder of the school year, but Gov. Little left the decisions to close up to the individual districts. Our private school is really its own district, with its own school board, etc., so we didn’t *have* to follow suit, but we also went to e-learning. We were planning to re-open this week, but the school board decided to continue e-learning for the rest of the year as well. Really, we could have done some finagling and stayed open, but we usually follow the district. Right now, our director says we *are* planning to be “boots on the ground” for our summer program, we just don’t know yet what that will look like. Graduation is still on, but is going to be rescheduled.

I was just gonna let him think he got a deal, DQB. I didn't get any pizza, but I scored a 30 pack a couple weeks ago.

Well, there is officially not a single stick of sidewalk chalk to be found in this town or 3 others, and amazon has doubled their price on said product.

We may need toilet paper and frozen pizzas to get through the ‘rona, but apparently the murder hornets require large quantities of sidewalk chalk.
(In related news, I saw a video of a praying mantis absolutely DECIMATING a murder hornet. It was pretty gruesome...and oddly satisfying.)

I’ll have a margarita please, with a side of currently unobtainable sidewalk chalk.

Holy hell, I almost couldn’t find this place!
Geez...shut down for one measly little pandemic and the next thing you know someone puts up an Olive Garden right in front of you and blocks the signage...

Got the cobwebs swept and the fire & flood folks just finished dealing with the water damage from the pipe that burst last winter. Couldn’t find a roach motel, but I hooked them up with a mid-range air b&b so I think we’re roach-free for the foreseeable future.

Still having supply-chain issues and staffing shortages, so it’s all potluck style for now.

Actually, groceries are triple the price they once were and we’re having the same staffing shortages everyone else is...by which I mean I can’t get anyone to work for free pizza and a Taco Bell coupon that expires soon. We’re just going to call it “supply chain issues” and “no one wants to work anymore” like everyone else, though.

Coffee is on - just made a fresh pot of Ethiopian dark roast!
You’ll need to bring your own cup.

Tasting notes on the yirgacheffe? Bag says floral and plum, but my plebeian palate isn’t picking any up. Dark chocolate - think Lindt 85% - lil’ bit of a woody-smoky edge, nutty, definitely low acidity, nice silky mouthfeel...very tasty with a glazed croissant.

Someone should stop at the donut shop and grab some of those...

no one, and I mean no one, writes with the "duende" of DaQueen.

the late great Boston Herald columnist George Frazier brought that word, duende, to my life...

"It’s a Spanish term that means a sort of hobgoblin, but is used colloquially — at least by Frazier — to mean a kind of irresistible magnetism. In the world of culture and style, some things can be said to have it, while other similar things, though quite good, just don’t have the same charisma."

My Queen's writing definitely has it.

Heard a new insult today, and as of now my goal for the coming week is to find no less than three legitimate opportunities to call someone “you absolute crock pot of squirrel stew.”
This is added to my standing weekly goal of finding legitimate opportunities to call someone “you miserable trout.”

It’s the little things 5hat make life worth living, ya know?

So…at what age or stage in a relationship is it generally expected that one can go an extended stretch of time - minimum 5 minutes, maximum an hour - without being attached to your SO at the face like a particularly clingy lamprey?

This is any time:
Farmers’ markets
Shopping malls
Cars
Community picnics
Oktoberfests
“hey come watch a movie with us!”
“We’ll help you move heavy things in your classroom!”

All the times.
All the places.
All the audiences.

Im talking just long enough to get through normal social events and activities.

Just long enough to get through dinner!

Asking for me.

Ideally, most ages and stages for purposes of general decorum. If not though, skip the social events and get a room.
