Love orange spice -I’ll have some, please!

They DID, in fact, have to bring in the big guns on Friday, because my class had become a pack of little velociraptors.
Still thinking they could get away with nonsense today...um...........that’ll be a NOPE.
So, between having to tame the the beasties-gone-feral, and residual plague fatigue, I...am...beat.
I’ll take my tea in a quiet corner booth. Don’t bother yourself if I fall asleep - the alarm on my phone will go off in the morning and I’ll just leave for work from here.

I got up this morning at 5am to see the super blood blue moon. Quite spectacular if you appreciate that sort of thing. I always drive out to the desert to see the meteor showers...

The moon had an orangish golden hue to it mixed with a grey ashiness when it was in the eclipse phase. The closest ice cream that resembles the glow of the moon this morning is pumpkin ice cream, like Baskin Robbins offers in the fall. Have some, please...

Sounds good to me! Do we have any ginger snaps? That just sounds like it would be amazing with crumbled ginger snaps.

My astronomy girl set alarms for us to see the moon this morning. We drove up to the fairgrounds, and...........
The moon was very low on the horizon, with thick, low cloud cover. Couldn’t see squat. Got home just in time for my regular weekday alarm to go off.

Didn’t exactly set a good tone for the morning, ya know? I mean, the coffee finished brewing so it got better, and then I got to work and it got better, and then the kids lost their minds and it got worse again, so I think we ended the day fairly neutral.

Just opened a nice Oregon Pinot Noir. Domaine Serene Yamhill Cuvee 2014. Pick out a glass and pour yourself some if so inclined.

Hey, don’t badmouth the Kracken - It may not be high dollar, but I’m kind of partial to it!
Price point doesn’t always win the day in my world. I’ve had plenty of “under $20” wines that I MUCH prefer to some higher dollar splurges I’ve indulged in, and one of the best all-potato vodkas I’ve ever had is Blue Ice...also reasonably priced. (Teton Glacier is outstanding as well, but given that I find little to no discernible difference in taste, mouthfeel, etc., and the fact that they are made in the same distillery and are likely the same product, it’s hard to justify the $10 difference in price)
But we were discussing rum, so I’ll skip the pineapple juice and have mine with Vanilla Coke, please.

Good evening, folks!

Thank you for reminding me - one of my favorite local wineries just posted that they released their ‘14PN...I need to track it down! I haven’t been able to find any of their Pinot Noir in ages! (Comes with the “small local winery” part, I’m afraid.)

Honestly, it depends on what you like. If you like sweet whites, Ste Chapelle makes a Johannesburg Riesling that will knock your socks off, and a Soft Huckleberry that is an awesome picnic wine. I’m told that the vineyard is at the same latitude as the major Riesling producing area of Germany, but I never got out a map and looked into it. That also has no effect on soil or weather, so I suspect it’s mostly just a cool advertising point.
Indian Creek Pinot Noir blew me away, but I haven’t tried their new release yet. PN is the flagship of their winery, so I’m pretty eager to find it.
I’m not really a fan of sweet, white or rosé in general (there are exceptions) but Three Horse Ranch has a Viognier/Roussanne blend called Vivacious that I keep as a go-to (not a fan of the herbal and mineral flavors in a lot of whites...this is mostly floral and fruit without being too sweet,) and a dry rosé that I swear tastes like taking a big bite out of a fat, red strawberry.
Ste Chapelle also has a Winemakers Series Cab that won’t blow your mind right away, but will get your attention after being lost at the bottom of the wine rack for a couple years lol! Haven’t tried any of their recent releases, though.

Basically, if they’re good, they’re VERY good, and if they’re not...they’re usually still pretty drinkable.
If it’s not utterly vile or ridiculously overpriced I gravitate toward supporting local wineries. (That’s not to say that I don’t love my Argentinian Malbecs or my Apothic blends!)

Can’t really give an informed opinion on any whites...mostly because I don’t particularly like white wines in general.

If I find my Pinot and it’s as good as the last, I may be able to hook you up...

Hot chocolate please!!!!

Almost 8" of snow here in Naperthrill. My little two cycle toro seized up near the finish!

I know oil/gas mix is correct could it be overheated?

Wonder if it's dead forever?

Thanks, whipped cream was a nice touch, after I warm up I'll go give the little guy a pull and see what happens.

Frank - amen, my friend!
Speyside - I’m on the hunt this weekend!

Everyone else: howdy!

I am sooooo glad this week is over! Kids have been off the rails to the point that I had two parent meetings that couldn’t wait for conferences next week, my shy, quiet, clingy speaks-very-little-English-mostly-mandarin kiddo found his comfort zone (yay!) and punched one kiddo, pinched three, and bit another (not so yay.) Then last night, I went to the dentist for a regular exam and X-rays, and left 5.5 hours later with a root canal, temporary crown, three shots of Novocain, prescription for hefty antibiotics, and a Starbucks gift card because they felt bad for me being there so long (...what?)
Watched more HGTV Flip or Flop in one sitting than I think I’ve seen in my life to this point.
Downside: it was a much larger time and money investment than I was originally anticipating.
Upside: found a new dentist I think I like, and they offer you coffee, soda, and cupcakes while you wait. Also my face is apparently no longer in danger of leaking gross stuff everywhere.

Can I get a glass of whatever red is open with a straw? My jaw is sore.

A little late, but I just opened a nice Oregon Pinot Noir. Odd name, very good wine. Stangeland. Under $20, Willamette Valley. You of course are welcome to have some. Sorry you had such a rough day.

Spey, hope you’re mending well, I have enjoyed montpulciano occasionally. Found them to be very drinkable.

Was called in for federal jury duty today, downtown Chicago. I have to be up at five to get to train etc.

Told the guard that I hope not to see him again. He said jury duty? Yes, he said he'd see me again.

Sitting in cafeteria thinking of ways to get out of this as I have two job interviews next week.

I hate everyone, why would they want me on a jury?

Just tell them you think the person is guilty....if they weren't guilty of something they wouldn't have been arrested and charged, and no matter what any defense attorney says will ever change your mind.......it worked for me several years ago. I got dismissed and have never been called againBeer Granted, this was not in Federal court

^ It appeared to involve pot and the USPS

Told them, honestly, that although we have a serious alcohol and drug problem in this country I believe we need to readdress some of our drug laws.

When brought called up for a "sidebar", secondary interview by all parties I was asked about my views on pot, I told them that i believe pot should be legalized, have the crap taxed out of it and lets focus on more serious issues.

I am home tonight and my obligation to the Federal courts has been met, for now.
