I'll try to get out there to see what they mean by "steps from the beach" etc. Also will try to get a look at the beach itself, most likely very sweet, but I did once check out a place way West and it wasn't as nice as 98.2% of Grace Bay.
Most of Grace Bay faces North but there are some curves at the east and west ends that change the direction those beaches face...
It is quieter out near the eastern end, it's not far from the "conch farm program" they run, but I don't think you'd want to walk to town.
William, corrections are in order!
Drove by Villa del Mar tonight, it is a stones throw from my current location so the beach would be fantastic, you could easily walk to town, and kind of across a street or two from Coco Bistro, great restaurant.
Did not get to see the resort but it is definitely a very short walk to but not on da beach. Looks like you'd have to go through the prop of another resort...Grace Bay Club or similar name. So I'm not sure if this means they do not have their own stuff on da beach like lounge chairs, umbrellas, towel service, staff to fetch drinks and stuff, etc. I have no idea of their pricing structure, but if you are a beach lover, you might want to look at places that control their section of the shore.
I'm in a one bedroom unit, have a nice screened in balcony that happens to face the ocean with the gardens and pool in between (lucky break), another small balcony at the opposite end of the unit off the bedroom, large living room, one and a half baths, galley kitchen with full size fridge with ice maker blah blah blah. This place and others right in the area also offer studios, Jr. Suites, full suites etc...so could likely fit your budget whatever that would be.
Had a wonderful sesame crusted tuna (RARE!) for dinner at Magnolia tonight. I could see living here, 'cept for sweet little Evy up in Ma, and of course, money.
