Just cracked open a

3309- 2016 Abyss aged in Brandy barrels

I tried looking back for the photo I took on my computer when this arrived but couldn't find it. I believe this was one of the many outstanding beers that was sent to me when Palama, Dkeage, and DED decided to wack me awhile back. There was this one other time at band camp though that Jamie gave me an Abyss to. I need to keep better track of these things. Thanks going to enjoy this one!!

3310 - Innis & Gunn Bourbon Barrel Porter, not bad but I prefer the Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale over this offering.

3311 - Prairie Consider Yourself Hugged

Tried a little experiment with this one. Poured about 1/2 bottle and capped the rest and put in the fridge for tomorrow. This often softens the tannins in wine so we will see if it improves the tartness I perceive or just turns it flat. Think

Interested in this experiment. The few times I have tasted the beer pre carbonation it was always sweeter tasting to me.

I called a shop in Pensacola after finding these in LA and the CBS had not appeared on their order sheets yet. It is kinda odd that I found it here when normally the Founders releases hit Pensacola a couple of weeks before LA.

Results of the Prairie CYH experiment: First taste while still too cold is slightly better with smoother mouth feel kinda like it's on tap or nitro. The slightly burnt coffee taste is still there. Once it warms up it does seem to improve a little more. YMMV

I have often done this with larger format stouts when I didn't want to drink all of it in one sitting.

Think Hmm, wonder if we’re talking about the same person who blamed his wife for sending my bottle?

3329 - Allagash Map 40 (meh)

My first ever barrel aged beer was an Allagash Bourbon Barrel Black on tap and I loved it. Have tried probably 6 to 8 different varieties of Allagash including the regular Black since and have not liked any of their offerings. Maybe I only liked it because it was new to me but haven't had it since and have been disappointed with this brewery otherwise.
