Cuenco y Blanco

While the reviews mentioned the fragile wrapper, they also raved about how it burns in after about 1/2 an inch like it should be Cigar of the Year. Never got much better, kind of a muted taste. Retrohaling helped some, but also the very soft ash falling off all over the car every 3/4 inch got annoying. Let it go before the last third.

Maybe my palate was off that day, but it just seemed like a quality Nic/Hon cigar.

I agree Zig. Back in 70''s & 80's one of the best but now I wouldn't give you $2 for one.

I second that and add the whole Cohiba catalogue. Don't get me wrong they're great smokes, they really just don't taste cuban.

You mean "over rated" like the ones you guys love that I didn't? Hell, everyone's palate is their own. I'm thinking this isn't a very relevant thing, from my experience. Disappointing would be a better term. Ratings, in my way of thinking, are for Cigar Aficionado reading noobies.

Yep........disappointing is a much better term.
The numerical "scoring" that goes on with cigars, wine, scotch, beer, etc., ................it's just a "business" for the most part.
Assigning an objective rating, to something which is subjectively experienced or evaluated, is always loaded with controversy, and too often, an element of corruption.
I always put more trust what 50 end users say about a cigar, than what one "expert" says................how's that for a captain obvious moment?

Absolutely ! The latest cigar I was disappointed in is La Palina and prior to that Ashtons, San Cristobal, Sencillo God of Fire and many others. Have yet to smoke a Perdomo or Rocky Patel I would buy again. Not sure what the percentage is of Gurkhas that I've liked, but there are a few Gurks I would take over an Ashton. I can't think of a cigar I've smoked that I liked that cost more than $ 5 a stick.

Ya, I'm not the biggest fan of Ashtons either. Had quite a few VSGs, wasn't a fan. I did like the ESGs, but for the amount they go for... meh... wouldn't buy any more, but I would certainly smoke another if it was given to me :)

I'm sure that $5 a stick is your price and not retail.

You do realize almost everyone on this forum is older than you.

So that makes you a granny chaser or a necrophiliac... either case, GROSS DUDE!

Agree.
Now, if there was a high end cigar the many complained about construction issues - tunneling, canoeing, burns hot, etc, and that was hyped, I'd agree to the label "over-hyped". Thousands of different cigars on the market, of course they'll be hyped. After all, the manufacturers aim is to sell as many as possible. Nobody will like 'em all.

Davidoff. Disappoints every time despite being GORGEOUS looking cigars.

Agree on Graycliff also. Never again.
