March Madness - What A Week This'll Be

For those of us who enjoy NCAA basketball, this is the ultimate week ... 34 games will be played between now and Sunday ... 34 teams will be sent packing ...

Oh, sure ... some of those will hold no suspense and rather little interest ... will completely obliterate whichever of the play-in teams they face in the first round ... unless you're a 'nova fan, there'll be nothing of interest to see in that game ... but, Iowa State vs Nevada should be a real show ... both teams run a fast offense and this one should be al barn-burner ...

There'll be a Cinderella team emerge somewhere ... one or more of the top seeds will get knocked off in an upset ...

As I say, a huge week for those of us who love college hoops ...

The University of Rhode Island is in the tourney. They're an 11 seed... but the entire state could fit in San Diego County, so I cut 'em some slack.

It'd be terrific to see them do well this year ... they've got a better than normal team and might well actually reach the final four ...

Smart choice ... I've seen them play several times this year and they're gonna be extremely tough to beat ...

I think everyone had Nova going to the elite 8 and then split half taking **** and half Nova. I won my pool last year because I had Nova winning it and took Duke because of the odds going back to back are slim to none.

I take it there are no men here.

too bad, missing a great game right now...and even though no one watches women's college hoops, the S. Sip Mattie B's ended UConn's 111 game winning streak

Watched the end of it. I was rooting for UConn, but figured the streak was going to end.

Didn't think the zags would pull it off, but dayum if they ain't in the big dance. 77-73 over SC.

Twas a good game. I like Karnowski's beard. Looks like he's been growing it since high school but then you look at his head an realize he's one of those guys who's hair got sucked in his scalp and came out his face. Sorry if I offend anyone here with that affliction. Life after basketball for that guy is going to be LARGE.

First game was good and ended great. The second game is getting better. I think Carolina is the better team.

I'm 6 feet tall, 780 lbs, 63 years old...and I know enough to box out instead of going for the rebound

Hmm..........seems like the ref swallowed his whistle on that last rebound..........Meeks pushed that Oregon player......hard..........foul imho.
But..........tough call to make.

you are correct, but he would have gotten the legit call had he tried to box out.
Fundamentals.

I don't know Frank..........think you're wrong on this.
Watch the last 15 seconds of the video here........keep and eye on what Meeks does........pretty blatant.....refs were scared to make the call.....or....didn't see it.

At 2:15 mark freeze it.....and you can see he has his hands on both Oregon players backs..........then just steam rolls them out of the way.
Good for Meeks.........he's so strong it didn't look like much.....smart play......but a foul in the 1st half.

Is it over yet? For some reason I have lost interest in March Madness more so with every passing year. I think the 1 and done has a lot to do with it because it is hard to root for a team that you don't know any of the players on it. Also, basketball has turned into a 1 man show or a 3 point contest, the fundamentals are completely gone and it is more of a look at me game than any other sport out there.

I see what you're saying, no question where his hands were. But neither of them seemed like they were trying to back a body into him.

Not that I was any good, but my coaches were. They said don't go up for the rebound as the goal, rather don't let your man get the rebound...and you'll end up with many.

Could have been called on Meeks though, you are right. Would not have been an incorrect call. and I was rooting for O.

It was quite possibly the 2 best games I've ever seen back to back.

Maybe it was the company...or the cigars...perhaps the scotch, I doubt it though.

If not THE two best back to back games, these two ranked right near the top .... add to that, the fact that some of the earlier games in this tourney were ALSO extraordinarily good, this really has been perhaps THE best March Madness ever ... and, it's not over yet
