Alive or dead?

Alive and current "bests" Male Rocker vocalists...

Sound of Silence/Draiman -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Dg-g7t2l4

War Pigs/Mike Patton -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4oZXfrf18Y
..an incredible cover.

Billy Jean/Chris Cornell -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2MgwAJrfXo

Nothing Compares/Chris Cornell -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuUDRU9-HRk

Two from Chris cause I love that bastid. He has lost some of his exquisite range since his Soundgarden days,
but the raw emotion he conveys now more than makes up for it. An unbelievably talented musician.
Catch him live if you can, you won't regret it.

Peace

Whether you liked the music or not, anyone that doesn't say Freddie Mercury is wrong.

There are soooooooooo many worthy choices, many who were listed above, but to be honest, the FIRST name to pop up in my head was Freddy Mercury.

Others, not listed . . .
Either of the lead singers for AC/DC. (Their names escape me.)
Dennis DeYoung - STYX
Micky Thomas - Starship
Shawn Phillips - (Been around a LONG time.)

Q

Always thought he was a powerhouse in rock vocals as well. Another in my book would be Steve Winwood

And, when he was young, Joe Walsh could sing a bit (James Gang)

LOL, Joplin...I'll have to listen in on some of the names listed...

Roy Orbison, in the same "not quite Rock" vein as Elvis Presley singing mostly ballads, a guy most of you never heard of, with an impressive range, from his growling baritone to an ear piercing falsetto...his voice remained strong, rangy and vibrant into old age.

Jim Morrison: great voice with a haunting quality (Light my Fire, Rider on the Storm, LA Woman, frontman for the Doors), he died way too young with too little on his resume, which adds to his mystique.

It seems Mercury came to more people's minds. Great talented singer, musician and showman with Queen, an all-time rock fave...

Loved the Big O's stuff Al, there was a cpl guys I grew up with who performed publicly ( union musicians ) who covered a lot of " easy listening " groups / individuals to include Roy.

Morrisey from the Smiths.
There's just something about a man that sounds like he just finished crying
