they're definitely recovering losses by artificially inflating the prices on here...

and there are other auction sites... even before the meltdown here I was scoring way better deals on way better cigars than what they have here... this place is like one giant gurkha: overpriced, overhyped, and really only impressive to noobs...

Back when I was a young wipper snapper, and prices became to high at Da General store.
Da General would give us store credit.

Ask nicely, they might oblige.

There was a time, years ago, that cbid was number 1........no more....
Now, they are BARELY the third best........more likely fourth......which makes them last......and the worst.

The matter of auto-bot schill bids??
I hope not....but...
Think

it has to be... there's not another explanation for it... before the meltdown - when this company lost a ton of money and respect - auction prices had become so predictable you knew exactly what was going to happen with them... after the meltdown - when they lost the ability to ship orders and answer phones - all of a sudden every single auction closes within a couple of dollars of retail... every single time...

to summarize

pre-meltdown - great customer service, lots of happy customers, predictably low prices

post-meltdown - worst customer service I've ever seen, few happy customers, outlandishly high prices

Yeah, I know personally I'm done with bidding. It's not worth it anymore.

My last bid here was several months ago and it was a mistake - hit the "free fall" button due to airplane turbulence! FWIW, they arrived promptly and in good shape and were a (very slight) savings off off other sites normal prices. Nevertheless, I have not seen anything on here in quite a while where it is really worth the time and trouble of bidding for the prices that they wind up selling for.

The days of 60.00 boxes of Melanie Maduro is over.
Glad I got mine when I had a chance.

I use to pickup graycliff double espresso for less than 3 bucks a cigar too.

Shill bidding, perhaps?

Wish there was a way to pm some of these winners. I don't recognize any of them. Before I would know some of the winners by thier initials and where they live. Man throw a brother a bone now and them, 976 lots bid on and zero winsd'oh!

I don't think you got it... maybe I didn't tell it right...

I meant that sending a pm to the winner of the auction and sending a pm to customer service were basically the same thing because, ya know what, nevermind... wasn't that funny to begin with, explaining it isn't going to improve it any...

for what it's worth, I've always thought those ladies were top notch... they got caught up in something that obviously wasn't their fault and they obviously weren't equipped to handle... hope they got massive bonuses for staying with the company... maybe they get to keep some of the auctions the bots win...

As some have said in this thread, i would have to say prices are a bit higher then I would like. I have bid on a few free falls and it seems like the specials are not always that special. With the exception of the La Palina red label 2 fer. That was pretty good for sticks that I can smoke and pass out without caring too much. But I have found better deals on cigar-fu on the CI site sometimes. People seem to be bidding up beyond what I would go for...

I'm just a nube, took up cigars to quit cigarettes and it worked for me. I haven't had or wanted a cigarette since November 13. 2-3 packs a day for 45 years. Cough is gone; sleeping much better.

CBid is working for me. All my orders have shipped promptly, well packaged and arrive in good shape. Perhaps there's more competition for the lots you're bidding on compared to mine. This week I bid on 22 lots and won 5. 70 cigars for 60 bucks plus shipping. I wish I had won everything I bid on, but someone has to keep the lights on. Regards.
