I bought a Vertico lighter, its nice, but unlike the jetline lighters I have, the lighter lid doesnt open automatically when you ignite the lighter. Jetline lighters open automatically. I was kinda bummed cuz its a nice lighter and I overbid for it like a dumby...

Don't fret...you won't care about the lid in a few weeks...as you're tossing it out, just think how many Ronsons you coulda bought for what you paid

Strangely enough, it's a pretty solid response ... the Ivory Soap percentage of lighters don't last long ... even following all of the purging and use of nothing but zilliontuple refined lighter fluid tips you inevitably hear, they all die young ...

One of my cigar pals has fully embraced the inherently, inevitably ephemeral nature of torch lighters.

Whenever necessary, he orders a display case of the Jetlines, intended for display on a convenience store or gas station's countertop. It's got 20, 25 or whatever Jetlines, the bottoms of which are stuffed into form-fitting holes in the display case's thick foam base.

Whenever one stops working, he tries the usual fixes (purging, etc.), and if they don't work, he throws it in the trash and grabs the next one. When the display case is almost empty, he orders another.

Simple and effective, and surprisingly cheap. By the display case, those things are very inexpensive!

My solution is different: buy at least 2 (3 is better) Xikar lighters. When one fails, use the other(s) until you can take the bad one back to CI, who will cheerfully and instantly replace it, with no paperwork or hassles.

I like my way better, because my way causes me to spend $0 going forward, forever.
