This past weekend I was asked to be a youth minister by one of the local priests looking for help with confirmation classes.

I already volunteered Frank out to be the prequel expert.

Hah! Well a lot of these kids are probably "just going for their parents" anyway so most of the curriculum will probably consist of why Jesus is the most Heavy Metal person in existence. I mean when you have buddies named Rock and the Sons of Thunder who consume your Holy flesh how could you not be a metalhead?

So I get where your coming from Frank. I'll probably expelled within the first week!

I'm really thinking about it; I'm definitely not exactly the type for the role. I have the knowledge but my character and everyday living will not be up to snuff with the scrutinizing eyes of parents, priests, and other teachers.

Kinda what I was thinking, but as Jesus said . . . "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

"James 3:1- Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment."

Straight outa the sequel...

Yeah I tried to get out of it by using that quote but then he schooled me with about 10 others not to mention that this is a priest I could actually learn something from.

No it was a 'learning' from a priest joke. Too easy.

I can think of about 1000 different troll posts to throw out, but they are probably not appropriate for any venue... in any case, if you want to have a mock q/a so you can know what to expect, I might be able to help you out. Would you like me to ask you a question ???

>:)

protip: the correct answer is NO... you do not want me asking you mock questions.

TG, we have this:

https://virtusonline.org

You gotta go through a background check and training. Last time I went through the training, we actually had a Protestant minister speak about his first hand experience dealing with his own son who was molested by the youth minister he had hired for his Church. All I have to say is that people are freaking twisted; It was a sad story.

It's really a shame that churches even need a system like Virtus but with so many people working around kids you never really know. You can only hope for the best.
