My son and DIL are expecting their second child, my third grand-child, next week. The baby is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, July 12. Their first baby, Troy, our first grandchild, arrived a couple of days before his projected birth day. Grandma and grandpa are so blessed!!! We are hoping for a healthy and happy addition to our family and a quick and trouble-free delivery for our daughter-in-law.

As a small gesture expressing our thanks for such good fortune, I am putting up a fiver of decent cigars to the person who guesses the closest correct length and weight of the baby, in total inches and ounces. For example: a guess of 21 inches and 7 lb, 3 ounces is a total of 136. (21 + 7x16 + 3 = 136)

To somewhat equalize the value of the guess of the length, that number will be used as a tie breaker. If two or more persons' total guess number is the same, the person who made the closest guess of the baby's actual length is the winner.

I will also send a second fiver of decent cigars to the person who makes the closest guess of the date and time (Pacific) of the birth. There is a remote possibility that two guesses will be within the same number, over/under, of the actual date and time of birth. The tie-breaker for this guess is the gender of the baby.

There is a one guess limit for each player. Please list all of your guesses in one post: length (inches), weight (pounds and ounces), date, time, and gender.

Our daughter in law went into labor yesterday morning. A long day became night. The night stretched into another day. Finally, early this morning, 7/ 9 at 2:05am, a beautiful baby girl popped into the world. She is 20.5 inches long and weighed 7 lb, 13 oz. Thankfully, the baby and the mother are both happy and healthy.

The winner of the first half of the contest is Hank the Tank. His guess of 145.8 total length and weight is the closest to the actual total of 145.

The winner of the date and time part of the contest is gummy jones. His guess of 7/8 at 0642 was 18 hours and 23 minutes off, but more than a day closer than the next best guess.

Congrats to the winners...please pm your addies.

Thank you all for playing and sending good wishes to our family.

Huge Grats PAWPAW hahahaha. Now remember, when baby sitting, Give lots of chocolate 15 minutes before she goes home, buy only toys that make allot of noise and buy lost and lots of batteries to replenish the ones mom and dad take out. Also when loading the baby girl in to THEIR car to go home make sure to give her 2 cones of triple scoop ice cream {one for each hand} and a big lolly pop all at the same time. Dont worry if she drops any, the seat in their car or floor board will catch it all. fog BigGrin Laugh ThumpUp

PS: Thanks for the chance at the cigars. I greatly appreciate the opportunity and grats to the winners. Lucky Bastids =d>

Congrats Al. Just saw the thread. It would have been cool had she waited until Wednesday to make her grand appearance. We would have shared a BD.

My friend Charlie's b-day is tomorrow, and he was hoping she'd wait, too. Our grand-daughter's name is Chelsea Rose Chin. Son and DIL like the alliterative sound of the first and last names, and Rose is DIL's mom's name.

Chelsea's doing great, after a minor hiccup: a case of jaundice that required a couple of extra days in the NICU for photo treatments. She's home...healthy and happy and lovely.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, everyone!
