So what is the aversion on this site to calling cigars, sticks? Over the last 10 or so years I have read a lot of forums and it seems pretty common place to use that term.

I assume it is because this site is full of cigar snobs and calling them sticks would be beneath you.

Just curious.

No, these folks ain't cigar snobs Hank. They just don't want to sound like a trendy hipster like when they're at a mexican restaurant and they hear that douche from 'Cali' in that shrill voice going:

'OMG, we're being cultural over heeere!!!! We have FA JEET AHHHS! OMG!!! maybe we will smoke a stick when we are done like classy fellows.'

That kind of shït makes me puke hank. That's why I don't use the word sticks. So I don't like some 20-something hipster that just got into cigars.

Go online and try to shop for "sticks", see what you get.

A cigar is a cigar......why would you call it a "stick"........as a matter of fact the last thing I want to find in any of the cigars I smoke would be sticks Not talking

And I don't think anyone that knows me would call me a "cigar snob"........lots of things they might call me, but cigar snob is not one of themShame on you

Anyone who is going to have an online hissy fit because you use "sticks " probably needs to change their meds.

Be you hank. You shouldn't care what any idiots on this forum say about you, just read some of their posts and ask yourself why you are trying to impress them.

Just curious, what is everyone's opinion about the word "gar or gars" when referring to cigars? See people often refer to "yard gars".

They're real clean meat; a bit too firm for my tastes and sometimes almost too cottony. I'd take them over a carp but would choose gaspargoo over gar.

Man, I don't even know where to start, .... Ok we will start with me, I am old, I come from the hills, just a southern boy at heart... So with that being said I do not like change granted it happens every day. I see the term as something that has changed in my time. A cigar is a cigar... When I hear the word stick my butt draws so tight you could not get a greased BB in it, but I will say I have been known to be an ass hole. A cigar snob nope that cant be on my end because honestly I am very very new to the cigar world.

Its kind of like when I see some one Dabbing, which is something that NEVER and I mean NEVER should have been invented lol...I just want to slap the **** out of someone when I see them Dab. Another thing I do not get is them finger spinner flicker things. My son had to have one and he is 22 years of age. When I seen it the first thing that came to mind was the {shake weight} and I will admit I did ask him... "Son is that thing to help teach you how to twiddle your girlfriends giner"? We have to have change to grow but in some ways I think we are going backwards.

When it comes to cigars I just feel there is more to it than a "stick" there is history, tradition, culture behind it. I feel it degrades that. When I go pick a stick up in the yard I do not admire its construction, I do not think about the poor fellow or gall that is working on becoming a master roller or the time and effort to grow, mix blends, ect... These companies and workers are professionals that had to work very very hard to get to the professional level. It is a heritage that is passed from father to son and mother to daughter.

You want to see some one get pissed very quick, Walk up to a brain surgeon and say " Hey NURSE how are you doing today " Most will not hesitate to tell you that they gave up 12 years or more of their life to become a professional surgeon at the very very least have enough respect to call them Doctor. Granted I will admit I could be wrong in my thinking. I have a big thing for respect and tradition but that is me and my butt hole ways lol. So when you say calling them sticks would be beneath that is not the case with me. It is more of a respect thing in my case, it is like when speaking to an elderly woman, I say yes mam not YEAH BIATCH! I hope all this helps you understand my messed up way of thinking. I am a dinosaur, My time in comparison to today's society is almost over lol...

Best Regards, Ewok126

Hank, quit being an azz. On this forum we refer to them as cigars. There is no right or wrong about that, but it is the way it is. If you don't like using the word cigars, post on the other sites. No one here is changing any time soon.

Leopards have STRIPES ? Think

And as far as this whole cigar/stick discussion . . .
I think it's much ado about nothing, and I think y'all are just making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Does it REALLY bother you if, on occasion, some of us refer to our cigars as "sticks", OR . . . are you just looking for an excuse to jump all over Hank, (Not that SOME of you need an excuse.)

Wrong. Unless you're an administrator of this forum with rule-making power, you do not control other users' choice of words.

Or just continue to get trolled by the populous who you can never ever beat because they just want to know that your skin is crawling... just a little, even if it's only a teeny tiny bit... And if it's not?!?! They don't care, they'll troll you anyway.

But I'm pretty sure it is... just saying.

Yawn, I'm a little tired today. I picked up the sticks on my property and burned them yesterday. I did smoke a good yard gar or two. Mittens, I did find one stick just right for shoving up your ***.
