I was a Letterman fan from the second week of his original show in the 80s and found all of his political barbs amusing until he began skewering conservatives and fawning over liberals ... toward the end of his run, it got so bad, I stopped watching him and will not watch his replacement who simply isn't even remotely amusing ...

I used to love the EARLY LETTERMAN SHOWS...

Way BEFORE THE MILLENNIALS EVER EXISTED...

HE USED TO KEEP A REAL PUMP SHOTGUN UNDER HIS DESK...
^^ yes...a pump 12 gauge shotgun...100% real
And when he got PISSED ...he'd pull it out and chamber a fake round...the gun was empty of shell's but just that racking the slide...
was his big SCHTICK...
Then the camera would close in on his mug and he'd make a mean face....

It was *****IN hilarious!!

And he used to throw things off a tall building and watch them SPLODE WHEN THEY HUT THE GROUND AND REPLAY IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN SLOW MOTION..THAT WAS CLASSIC!!!

I miss those early episodes...a lot.
