Hey guys, I know I'm not around as much as I used to be. Life's been crazy busy the last year or so. After six years I finally took the dive and proposed to Gf earlier this year. The wedding is November 3rd this year, I'll be wearing a grey suit and vest. I stumbled across these shoes and wondering some opinions wether they would look good with the grey suit? Since fashion is not one of my strong points haha.

Thanks fellas,

No, black or dark burgundy would be the colors you would wear in shoes with a grey suit. Black sox.

You're asking people on here for fashion advice? I've been wearing the same pair of birkenstocks for the last 1460 days... and when we met up for the deep sea herf, Shawn was wearing daisy dukes and I think Anthony was wearing a mu mu...

Dude, those shoes are horibad...

Speyside's suggestion is good.

Stick with solids (or at least something just a bit more subtle)... I would also add a darker shade of brown to that list.

Cool looking shoes, but I agree . . . black would look better with a gray suit.

Congratulations on the engagement !

They were tasteful and attractive on me, though, right? You forgot to mention my brown, rubber 12" fishing boots.

Sexy.

WTF is wrong with you? Is this your, or more importantly, HER first marriage? If so, you wear EXACTLY what SHE tells you to. The wedding ain't about YOU, Dumbass. It's for her. You are just an accessory. You show up in those f*cking clown shoes and you have failed. Now is the time to do what you are told and when. Anything other than that is a mistake.

Wait... buying the engagement ring, wedding band, and taking marriage classes isn't enough?

Oh its celebration of marriage for all family and friends. See I did learn something taking them classes and test lmao

Grey Vans, white socks...............it's a great look!

The proper look?
Black lace ups, shined well. VERY dark grey, or black socks. Black belt with silver buckle.
White shirt, gold cuff links, handkerchief with a double pyramid pocket square..........matched to the color of your tie.

Jade is right. Ask your fiance to pick out some shoes for your suit. Start with stuff in your closet. If nothing is suitable, show her some shoe ideas that could be worn to work or other occasions...why spend $150 on one time only shoes?

After you're married, when you are getting ready to go out, you won't be coming here for advice on what to wear...

Instead, you're gonna hear, "you're not planning to wear THAT to the bosses dinner party are you?" So don't get dressed before going out...sit down and ask her to lay out a set of appropriate attire for you...

WTF are marriage classes?

And if you're looking for opinions, then you smell funny.
And
You're ugly, too.

(second opinion thrown in at no extra cost).

Haha, requirement of the Catholic Church to take a marriage class. Go next weekend, sounds like it's just a big group discussion on marriage with other couples or something like that.

I don't understand the concept of a marriage class... nothing can prepare you for that sh17.

Class 1: Duck random flying objects... we'll randomly throw arbitrary objects in the direction of your head, you must duck as many as possible. Who ever gets hit the least wins.

Class 2: Munchies Messes: We'll lay out several tables of snacks, your goal is to munch away without making a mess. If our mock wife catches you and you cannot blame it on the kids or dogs, you will be forced back to class 1.

Class 3: Take out the trash.

Class 4: Listen to our mock wife tell you about her day. You will be quizzed on it after and if you fail, you will be sent back to class 1.

etc... with all subsequent failures sending you to class 1.

GL!!!

I think Class 3 is also the class where they teach you that you will wear whatever **** shoes your wife tells you go with whatever she told you to wear

my opinion is that you need to assert your own opinions instead of relying on the often unreliable opinions of random strangers encountered on a cigar chat site ... oh, sure, among those who populate these forums, there ARE some whose opinions you can take to the bank, but then there are those whose opinions are as wackadoodle as anything found in an LSD hallucination and without knowing who's who, you're all but certain to be steered in the wrong direction ...

Look at this thread, for example ... about a dozen and a half respondents offering a variety of opinions, maybe 4 or 5 of which have any merit and some of the serious wackadoodles among us have yet to be heard from ...

You are wearing a suit not a tux, this info is spot on.

I wore french cuffs 5 days a week for years, I love cufflinks----great for a wedding day! I would do white metal to match white belt buckle, unless you wear a gold tone watch, then go with gold cufflinks and buckle.

As to socks I am a pattern guy, find some black with grey accents or a dark grey with black accents.

Best of luck!

You talking about pre-cana?

I never understood it to be a marriage class.
I thought it was just a forum to discuss the rhythm method of birth control and how well it is working in third world countries.

And for a serious answer to your original post:

No self respecting guy remembers what shoes they wore on their wedding day.

In other words, the only guy who remembers what loafers he wore is probably very light in them.
