Shortly after my first purchase from a popular CC vender it seems the info I used to sign up was spammed to a bunch of common sites (Amazon, Ebay, etc) and I got notifications from those sites that there were attempts to change my password and info. I had to call each of the sites' customer service to discuss the accounts as my email contact, password, etc were changed by someone to crazy things.

I already contacted the vender and am certain the breach came from their end as I have not used that login/password combo in a long time (which is a good thing). After speaking to them they are looking into it and they did show genuine concern. I do not think the company is intentionally selling data but perhaps they have a bad egg working for them?

Regardless, I just wanted to make a public service announcement that it never hurts to use different logins and passwords - especially with international sites - and always use different logins for your bank, stocks, etc than you would online purchases.

[mods I reviewed the rules and I dont think this breaks any as far as I can tell]

I guess it's a good thing I use separate usernames and passwords for 3rd world countries (any country that doesn't have America in it's name)

PSAs often give false positive results. Drafter convinced me only his taste test is accurate.
