"X4 by Xikar" and Diesel-branded Xikar Turrim - lifetime warranty or no?

I have an "X4 by Xikar" cutter en route to me. It looks like it has no Xikar branding anywhere on the body or the blades. Also it's NOT a model that's shown on Xikar's website. I've heard reports on the web that it does NOT have Xikar's lifetime warranty like "real" Xikar products do. Also look at the name, not a direct "Xikar X4" but rather a more indirect "X4 -by- Xikar". Does this cutter have Xikar's lifetime warranty? If I had to guess, I'd suspect not.

Also I have a few Diesel-branded Xikar Turrim lighters (really cool looking, they're painted to resemble a Diesel cigar, mostly brown but with a tan "foot-band", really cool!). However they arrive in a box marked "Diesel" not "Xikar", come with a booklet similar to the Xikar lighter booklet but it doesn't say Xikar anywhere on it, only "Meier and Dutch", the mothership's wholesale operation. However the lighter DOES say Xikar on its body, and of course the Turrim IS a model that's shown on Xikar's website.. Does this lighter have Xikar's lifetime warranty? I'm assuming yes.

Can anyone answer definitively whether or not Xikar supports these two products with the lifetime warranty? Thanks.

From what I understand (not that I have the cutter) it does not have the lifetime warranty. I think this subject came up with another cutter as well that this place sells exclusively. I would assume the same with the lighter as well since it is an exclusive for this place to.

If indeed they're not covered, the cutter I could understand, because it has no Xikar brand on it and the model isn't on their website. The lighter though I couldn't understand, as it has "XIKAR" embossed right into its metal body and the model IS on their website (this version just has a different and apparently exclusive color scheme, nothing more, it's the same lighter aside from the color).

I'll give Xikar a call tomorrow and get the real answers, and will update this thread FYI.

My pal was calling CI anyway so he asked about the Diesel-branded Turrim. The rep went on hold to check to make absolutely sure, then returned and said yes, it has the lifetime warranty. She said it's a real Xikar Turrim like any other (including XIKAR being engraved right on the metal body), it's just in a different color scheme. Warranty does apply, forever.

He didn't ask about the X4 cutter, but I really don't care as I got it free anyway.

By the way, the deal where you get a Diesel-branded Turrim with Diesel boxes is gone. Today they switched it to some more conventionally-designed, smaller, lamer single-torch Diesel-branded lighter that's "3D -by- Xikar", NOT worded as "Xikar 3D", plus the "3D" model is found nowhere on Xikar's site. I'll guessing it does NOT have the lifetime warranty like the Diesel-branded Turrim does.

Sure glad I got several of that Turrim deal when it was still active! They even have the EZ-view (or whatever it's called) fuel window where the butane appears to be red, with the background being clear! Neat (and patented) trick, based on refraction. But IIRC it's a relatively new feature, which tells me the Diesel-branded Turrim must be a recent development.

Anyway, there ya go, there's the info. Hope it helps somebody!

Email received from CI about the "X4 by Xikar" cutter (not the Turrim lighter):

Quote:
Hello, you are correct on all accounts. This has no Xikar brand markings and it is called X4 by Xikar. This is a product that they produce for us so it is not covered by their lifetime warranty but if you were to receive a cutter that does not work correctly or it stops working after a short period of time, you can contact our customer service department and we will happily set you up with a refund or replacement.

FYI.
