Been home in the States for just over a month now. Had to get a DL and hours later, a new car.
I gotta say, I think I liked it better before I left.

Let me just say hello to the good old boys who were around back when I was active on this site 8 or 10 (perhaps 12) years ago. Not sure how much I'll be posting, but I am bidding this week to create a new stash. So, take the bidding week off, gents. I do appreciate it.

You on the half year / half year schedule? Not a bad play.

I can wait. I've got to get more situated... especially teaching American kids.

Well, well, well... welcome back, Brian. We finally peeled you away from Japan, eh?

With the way things are going in the US, you'll want to go back sooner rather than later, I'm sure.

Shawn, I figure there's no real good place any more. Over there, I'm tired of North Korea threatening to lob a missile at us. Over here, it's something else. I just want to teach chemistry...have my students go on to study science at University...doctors, researchers, teachers, and Nobel prize winners...

Welcome back and I hope your students learn well and can go into the sciences. We could use more scientists. I recall organic chemistry kicking my ass in college (I took it as a free elective while trying to get my EE). fog

I hope those kids don't run into half-àssed professors and get people who really challenge them to progress.

Wow, some high quality BOTL wandering in. I feel honored.

As a rule, I hope for the best, plan for the worst. All I can do is my best with rules and consequences that force them to do their best. Then, it's really up to the students. When I retire in 20+ years, I hope I've "created" an army of science people. But, that's then. Now, I've just got to prepare. School starts 2 weeks from Monday...and in-service starts Monday, so two weeks learning the rules and prepping with teachers who know.

Hey Brian, hope this visit lasts longer than the previous few...

As a scientist training future scientists, what is your learned opinion of the Climate Change debate?

TG, the most prolific poster!!!

Delta, I have opinions on global climate change, but if I aired them, jpotts would most certainly come and taint this thread.

X, I believe so... maybe not the superest of premiums, but I heard he'd smoke anything but the box.

Good luck with the bidding...

Be sure to read the descriptions... because they don't always match the photos these days..

And it's hard to tell if you've bid on the photo or the description or something entirely different. d'oh!

Palama, not likely. I've been writing for a craft beer magazine in Japan for 4+ years, but I may quit that, too.
