Made it to our campsite. Cooked n ate dinner, hung a couple hammocks in the trees, smoking a cigar and tossing back beers.

Brought both puppy dogs. The little one is an awful camper but she's doing ok so far. Doesn't sleep at night with the sounds of the critters outside though.

Walking took a hit.

Overdid it, apparently. 11.4 miles of 24 hours has led to stabbing pains just behind the ball if the r foot, and swollen foot.

Skipped two days, then did a mile- still gimping. .75 today. Tolerable.

Take your time coming backs. Although, with sconnie weather, I guess the clock is ticking. You're already seeing temps at night I won't get until October/November.

How slow of a comeback? Mile a day? Take days off? What do you recommend?

By the way, I have a good friend at a place called The Humidor Scotch & Cigar Bar.

You familiar with it?

If you could do .75 without pain, slowly increase. If it was still a little gimpy, I'd take a few more days off. I spent years being the king of not resting or letting myself heal and all it did was halt progress.

I've been to The Humidor several times, but haven't been since they changed locations. Met the owner, Said, a few times and he seems like a nice guy. Some buddies and I would meet after work a couple of times a month there. It's only a few miles from my house.

My other local b&m opened a bar in the lounge last fall and I tend to go there.

Small world. My friend goes to the city every few months. Next time he heads down, I'll give you a head's up. Maybe you could have a smoke and a drink.

I know you are a Canes guy, but where do you way in on Bama/Auburn? I'm guessing, you declare Tide?

I am Tide by marriage. Mrs Monkey is a borderline psychotic fan, through thick and thin. I've had to deal with it since 1989.

Garnered big points today by getting her tickets to Bama-FSU, though.

Yeah, let me know the next time your friend heads this way.

I will say the aftermath of the 92 Sugar Bowl is still felt in the Monkey House. I was at the game, and was loving enough to bring back souvenirs for her, despite the debacle on the field.

Good morning all, Just got in from the ER, evidently the wife some how scratched the inside of her ear canal and over night an infection set in. Ear canal is now swelled shut lol she is more deaf than I am at the moment. Yep this is what happens when you decide to dig in you ear with a set of car keys. Duhhhh.... Of course as the Dr is noticing the scratch and he asked how did you get this in your ear and she says well yesterday all I had was car keys lmaooooo... Him and I both said at the same time "Don't ever put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear" while shaking our heads. So now a few hundred dollars later all because of an itchy ear and a car key. This is my wife lol

You may have plantar fascitis 8. Gotta let the inflammation die down with RICE: rest, ice, compression and elevation. Rest and ice is especially important, and elevation too if there is swelling. Wrap the foot and use a frozen bottle of water to ice it down and massage it. While sitting, put the frozen bottle on the floor, put your arch on the bottle and gently roll it for as long as needed to stop the pain.

I wouldn't do long walks until the pain stops happening after walking. PF is tough to get rid of, and can re-occur...

The "moderate" trails were quite rugged. Up and down hills the whole way, climbing up through loose dirt water channels, and down the same. All loose footing really takes it's toll quickly.

Made it 3.75 miles and found a path to a road that we took 1.5 miles back to the truck. Even puppy dogs were tuckered out.

Did half the planned hike distance. But wasnt expecting rough terrain on a moderate trail. Might skip on doing the rugged trail.

Walked a mile down to the beach and played in the water for a few hours. Walked back t campsite now in the hammock with a 2008 Punch Reido Unido Exclusivo, glass of Knob Creek, and a Founders Dirty Basturd.

Tequila didn't kill us. But it did make me bang the wife last night. That was fun.

Puppy dogs not allowed at the beach. I can see the lake a bit from our site. Gonna put long pants and boots on and see if I can get the dogs down to the water when my cigar is finished.

14,600 steps on pedometer. We try to do 16k or 10 and 5mi on the bikes when it's a nice day camping. Almost there. Helps offset the booze I hope.

Just wanted to point out that it's likely that the law doesn't state the licensed driver with your son has to be sober, so you could drink more, then have him drive you around.
