Wineador Issue

I bought a wineador a couple months ago as an upgrade to my coolers. For some time it was holding pretty steady between 63-68% but now it's been dipping down to 56 pretty regularly. Temperature is right at 70. I have it filled to the brim which might be my first concern but it's gotten to the point where I've added shot glasses of water in an attempt to get back up to speed. Everything was fine for 2-3 monthsnow it's like it letting ambient air from the bedroom creep right on in. Regular humidity is typically around 54% in the house.

Any ideas.

Same problems

Put a cloth over the drain, when it gets wet replace and move it to another part of the wineador to recycle the moisture. I use the neck coolers from the sporting goods stores, they absorb and shed moisture very well. I have even taken to wetting them down with distilled water if the humidity stays low in the unit.

Oh, and I use a pound of heartfelt beads, most of which I keep on the bottom and some at the top.

Then I use the big Boveda 65s in the drawers just to help regulate.

Plug the drain hole with what? I plugged it with a paper towel I wound tightly from the backside of the unit and put a big block boveda in front of the drain indention so that the condensation wouldn't cause any issues. Could it be that there is mor than just the drain hole that would be wide open?

I just made a plug with electrical tape and jammed it in there, ez pz.

Ya, plugging the hole is the most common solution to most of life's problems.

Well, maybe you should train a little harder before you go on a camping trip with z.

Are you wetting down your beads? I add distilled water to mine every month or so & things stay rock solid.

I ran wiring in for some extra fans through the drain hole, then taped it shut.

Check your hygrometer. If you have a 2nd one, drop it in your wineador to make sure the other isn't on the fritz. Happened to me once.

Those cigars should act like a humidity buffer, if properly humidified before their introduction.

My hygro is off by 3-4%, I accounted for that already.

How many pounds should I have for 600 cigars?

You fit 600 cigars in your wineador?

HTF did you do that?

(1 pound is fine imo).

The only info I can find on how much to use is based on square space and not the amount of stogies. Which I am sure you already have that knowledge but just in case.

Measure the depth, width and height (example is 24” depth, 36” wide and 48” height)
Multiply the three:

24x36x48=41472 cubic inches

Multiply this by .00185185 (ounces needed per cubic inch); 41472x.00185185=76.799 ounces

Divide this answer by 16 (ounces in a pound); 76.799/16=4.79

You would need 4.79 pounds of Heartfelt Humidity Beads for this humi.

Also from what I have read you can go over the amount needed as it will just equalize even better at what ever the beads are set for.

I have never had a large enough stash nor could afford to acquire such and need a large space like that so I have to admit I am talking out my ass here. I am assuming that this is for humidors and not a wineador and I have no clue if the same is applied.

Just trying to help JJ, I do hope you get it all sorted out. ThumpUp
