I usually cut my own hair. Number 3 comb all around with the clippers. Why pay someone?

But I’ve let my beard grow out and thought they could better transition in to the beard and trim it up as well.

$30 plus tip. It looks the same as when I do it. Mellow

Twice in the last 15 years I've thought maybe I should get a "real" haircut.

Wife can't tell the difference between when I paid someone or did it in the basement, so I'll just keep doing it myself. ...for about 5-6 years until that thought crosses my mind again.

If you do use depilating cream, go to a black barber. They got the good stuff.

When I used to keep up with it shaving, had tons of ingrown hairs, pimples etc. Then I started using an electric razor but if you don't do it daily, it gets too long to use the electric thing. I'm too lazy to do that **** daily.

Asked a couple bald head black guys at work what they do, and I got myself a couple creams and lotions. Would keep me bald for a good week without ingrown hairs and pimples n stuff. But I'm back to just using the hair clippers without a guard every 3-4 weeks or so for head and face. Easy, cheap and most of all, low maintenance.

used to know some black guys who used stuff called Magic when they shaved. Said it was cuz of ingrown hair problems.

Been cutting my own for years.

Several years ago I️ visited an old school barber shop for a hot shave. Figured I’d never had one and thought it would be a nice treat. Total waste of cash if you only counted how the shave looked. But the hot towels and all the other was worth the cash.

Heathens.... I've been feeling guilty for not going to my regular hairdresser and going to some budget joint (40$ a cut) because I couldn't get him booked without scheduling 3 weeks in advance....

I definitely can tell the difference between my old hairdresser and the random girl at the budget shop... he spent an hour agonizing over each damn hair, and the cut stayed cleaner looking as it grew out a week or two later. The budget shop runs a pair of clippers over the sides and it gets a lot sloppier looking a lot quicker.

Not only visits a male hairdresser, but considers $40 a budget haircut.
Wonder what the male hairdresser costs???

There used to by a similar salon in Pittsburgh. It closed as a result of too many complaints from women saying it objectified women.

We live very different lifestyles. And that’s not a dig.

Neither one of us would want to swap places.

Here’s my hang up....

It’s not the “hairdresser”. Buddies of mine go to salons to be pampered by nice looking ladies.

It’s not the $40. My sons haircut is $25 and that’s in the Sip

How can you sit for a haircut for an hour?

I don't blame her at all....men have no business there...just like women aren't exactly welcome in barber shops...sure, they tolerate the occasional mother who brings in her son, but you can hear the collective sigh of relief when she walks out.

Almost cut my hair...but, I feel like letting my freak flag fly....

It's magic shave. We buy it in small cans and give it to the kitchen workers if they want it. They have to be clean shaven, so we provide that and tiny razors.

Found Bump Stopper works better. But it is a little more expensive.

I go to Sportclips. I enjoy the conversation with the ladies, scalp wash and massage, hot towel treatment...

I change it up, right now I'm keeping my hair a little longer, think I'm getting sick with it, probably go a little shorter next time with a nice fade (good luck fading it yourself).

I pay a little under $30 including the tip.

I did the barber thing for a bit. Out here the Russians got a lock on the barber scene (well, usually from countries ending in stan.. but might as well be Russian... is that racist?)

Used to get it cut by this big burly fellow with a coke nail, he would see me and in a Dolph Lundgrenesque voice go...

"There he is, there's my pretty boy with the complex hair."

I think he wanted to bang me, but I didn't care because he did a really great job on my hair.

Anyway, once he got fired/quit or what ever, tried a few other Russians out and I was like... meh, going back to the hot chicks. I was picking specific chicks for a while, but now I just let the poon gods decide which one gets to fondle my pretty boy hair.

I do understand that. I did it because the end result looked much better than the 30min jobs...
My biggest complaint with him was that I can't plan my weekends 3-4 weeks in advance, that simply wasn't feasible for me. That and we moved to another part of the city, so I had to add extra time for biking over to his salon...

I sacrificed quality for convenience.... But the cheap place gives me a can of Hamms to drink while I wait.... But with the new place I need to get my hair cut probably closer to every 4 weeks rather than every 6... simply because it looks sloppier earlier. So I'm probably paying the same amount in the end.

I just want to point out that in a site where people discuss the finer points of turning $20-$30 cigars into a pile of ash, with no benefit beyond the moment of enjoying the cigar, it's a little short sighted to claim $40 is a lot for a haircut, which theoretically will allow one to look professional at work and earn money with which to buy more $20 cigars.

The other guy was more... I don't remember... it doesn't matter really... as long as he did a good job and fit within a price range of a few beers, what does it really matter?

Wrong Forum d'oh!
This is a discount cigar forum. If you're buying cigars for $20ea you're overbidding.
