And they will stomp their feet, pout, and hold their breath until they get their way.

Well if the first two parties were fun what’s wrong with wanting another.

Hell, I'm not Millennial by a long shot, but I definitely want a third party. Forced to vote for Cheeto this past election but he definitely wasn't in my top ten list. I'm fed up with Congress and their lame azz partisan politics excuse for not getting anything done as well. Drain the swamp.....all of it!!!

We had libertarians but then they fused with republicans because a libertarian-republican gets more wins.

I remember when I believed in the third party lie. It's just a way for democrats to win elections.

Not really, jj, as far as in Presidential elections. The examples of third party candidates spoiling the chances of one party or the other have favored the GOP. In 1968 George Wallace ran as a Dem and took millions of votes from Humphrey, who lost. Then in 2000, Ralph Nader was widely viewed as having taken thousands of votes from Gore in Florida, the vote re-count state. Post election pollsters found that 60% of Nader's voters were Dems.

In state and local elections, 3rd party candidates can help or hurt both parties. The Dems in AL are hoping a 3rd party candidate enters their special election to replace Session's seat in the US Senate, to take some votes away from Roy Moore.

No millennial here, either...but never felt 'forced' to vote for anyone. I've voted for at least one third party candidate in three of the last four elections here. I've felt everyone of them would have been good for the position. I have passed on some Libertarians who I didn't like....when the Republican was less distasteful.

The numbers of party membership are too high and the institutionalization of a two party system will be extremely difficult and expensive to overcome. Just getting on the ballot costs a ton of money. However, as more and more people bail from the parties, there is a chance that a third party could evolve. More likely, one of the existing parties will go through some form of transformation...
