Just snagged 2 5’ers of Sobremesa short torpedos for $21 each. This is near criminal. With all the DE fanboys on here, surprised that Steve Saka does not command more competition.

IMO what Dunbarton is putting out is much better than most all of what is being produced by DE at the moment. If you haven’t heard of these cigars, definitely worth getting some at a bargain before everyone else on here figures out how damn good they are.

They're on cbid?

I quit browsing through the listings here a long time ago once the good stuff dried up.

Certainly wasn’t going to tell you before the auction ended . . . this is CI, there will be another in about 15 minutes.

It's a brand I want to try, but I don't want to pay to try... I don't agree with all of Saka's blends fresh, but I had/have some that aged out very very nicely.

Guess I'll have to start looking at the listings again id like to try some, and age some a few years

After reading all the rave reviews I bought a 5er of the Sobremasa Corona Grandes but even after trying them 3 and 6 months after getting them, wasn't all that impressed. Same with the Umbagog Robustos so I'm just wondering if they're just not in my wheelhouse.

Bought a box of the same size and thought they were really good fresh but when I went back to them I was not impressed, in fact I hardly ever think about grabbing one of them. Didn't know Umbagog was his but wasn't interested anyhow.

Not a DE fan, but I’ve liked each of Saka’s blends, but only in certain vitolas. I love the Sobremesa Short Churchill and Elegante en Cedric’s, but think the others are meh. Mi Querida is better in the larger RGs for me, but Umbagog is similar, better and cheaper. Todos las Dias is the exception - I’ve had 4 vitolas and loved each one.

Well, there's my problem - never tried them fresh. Bummers. So maybe they have a "sick" period and we need to wait a couple more years? Think

But yeah, right now I don't really think about reaching for one when I'm humi or cooler-diving and have no desire to buy more. I do have a couple of Mi Querida toros so next time I have time to ash up a bigger cigar, should try one (...hopefully with much better results...).

OP - looks like 2 less bidders so you should be able to get yours at a pretty good price. Good luck to you!

Yeah,

To each their own on cigars. I cannot buy a sick-period of more than a couple of months (aside from wet-packed), sure many will get better with age. but several months should cure any issues relating to the cigar being too young. The vitola matters for sure, though I have not found this more so with Dunbarton than with any other cigar. In the end, it all comes down to personal preference.

My real confusion here is that 5'ers of undercrowns will go for $7-8 per cigar, while the same vitola is available for $5 right now on CI. Sobremesa's going for $4.20 is a 59% discount for them on CI and they are simply way better IMO.

I personally like Sobremesa in the smaller format and agree that Mi Querida is better in a larger format. These are not my favorite cigars by a long shot, but a must-buy at $4.20 in my book. Glad that you two won't be bidding me up on these. Hope that they come up again sometime soon.

Don't forget the shipping......$21 for the 5ver and $4.95 shipping brings the cost up to $5.19 per........just sayin'Think

Very true, and thus is the pitfalls of c-bid. Came here for a cheap free fall cube of boveda, left with:

2 sobremesa 5’s
Box of Nortenos
5’er of DPG classic
5’er of JDN Antano
5’er of MOW Armada
Boveda cube

So that brings the cost per cigar to like $36 each? LOL

Got some great deals this week, but this is a scary place for someone with CAD. The only purchase that was stupid this week was the Armada for $23, but I have been curious for a while, and who knows, maybe they are decent?
