Wife and I went to the eye dr today. Haven't gone since 2012 even though I'm paying for vision/dental...

Bought some new glasses, and tried contacts for the 20th time. I can see clearly to about 16 inches, but I cannot focus under 16" with the corrective lenses on. Dr has been saying since I was 20 years old I need bifocals, but I just buy glasses that are short top-bottom so I can read above or below the lenses. With contacts, I cannot do anything up close, so I only wear them when we're gonna be out on a boat, or swimming, or hiking, or anything that won't require reading or any short range vision.

I was wearing contacts last time I went fishing, had to throw one in the water so I could tie my lures and stuff. Anyway, he suggested using low power in one eye, and full in the other. Tried em on in the office, and it was weird, but functional. Wore em out of the office, but when I hit the road everything beyond 30-40 feet was doubled and blurry. Tried doing one eye or the other, and it was instant headache. Made it home, and once in the house, no vision issues. So, guess contacts are just out for me. Think instead of buying another box of them I'll get some prescription sunglasses.

Cracked open our last bottle of 2015 3F Behemoth, since we just picked up 4 2018's.

Gonna drop kid off at school tomorrow and go out for lunch, have some fresh Behemoth. It changes drastically year to year in aging. I love it fresh, and at 2-3 years. 1 year it's weird, and 4 years or more it gets a bit syrupy.

I had PRK back in 1998 and I can still see relatively well at distance. Up close... not so much. Night time sucks, too.

We had some the last few days, but none today. Early this morning it said it was supposed to hit 40 today, but now the high is 19. Weather forecasters are brilliant. We did get hit pretty hard Friday night though. Couple inches of ice then a bunch of snow on top of it.

I don't think you can have both.

My wife will bitch at me over stuff, but most of the time it's appropriate, I'm being an ass or something. But man... the hell she raised when I took my racecar home.

I had 7 cars when we moved in, and slowly sold them off. This one was in storage 4 hours away. So 5 years after I sell off my last toy car I brought my first one back home. She hadn't seen it since 06 or 08ish, and is not pleased with the new arrangements

She is still a sweety but prefers old trucks to loud/fast cars. Thats why I sold the '69 Chevelle SS and bought a '41 Ford truck which is half fast. I like both.

No plans to go outside. Well, out of the garage. Got a smoking day planned. I got the beers going, and threw a dozen chicken thighs in the smoker. Grocery store had thighs for $0.49/lb so why not

Got some pork chops in the brine that will kiss the skillet and then rest in the oven for dinner.
