Love him or hate him the Trump administration seems to have been good for the stock market. I usually prefer the S&P 500 as a proxy for the market but the DOW is more often quoted. So where will the DOW be at the end of 2018?

Guess the DOW at the end of 2018 and win a box of cigars worth at least $200.

Contest is open to all and will close entries 1/15/18 at 12PM EST.

My guess (which does not count) is Dow 30015

admittedly, I don't have a lot of market savvy, but the S&P is where I look at the end of the day too.
The market was moving in the right direction under Obama as well, so Presidents may not be a yuuuge factor, though for sure they do influence the direction.

Trump did step into an economy that was well on it's way up...for what ever reasons.

and once again, you are generous beyond normalcy!

I dunno Frank... Hillary was raise taxes and the EPA regulations would still be in place.. I don't see the stock market climbing if Hillary had won... She lost... Mellow

If the DOW drops to 3015, most of us will die in the riots.

market went up with the regulations, and we will know soon enough if taxes are going up anyway.
I'd worry more about the world in general having an impact.

A geopolitical event will cause a pull back. Guaranteed. But with tax reform and infrastructure spending recovery will be strong.

Our economy was so strong the last 8 years that the fed kept the interest rates at 0 percent (sarcasm of course) allowing big companies free money to pump up their stocks (not sarcasm).

I apologize for the Obama post up above, but Frank the deush-nozzle started it.

Thanks for the contest, DED. Your generosity knows no bounds !
My (winning guess ) is :27102
I used the same "WG" strategy as I did last year to win the NBA Championship contest, missing a perfect guess by 1 point !

No, I didn't actually. I decided to go with around half the growth of last year. It has to slow down eventually, right? Cool

I saw that on Bloomberg last week. The analyst said that realistic growth would be 8%-10% this year.
