I still don't understand why the news media will post up a big, front page portrait of the STUPID MORONS that commit these crimes.

Who cares what the piece of **** looks like.

Befuddled!

Mad

The piece of sh** in question WANTS the publicity ... were they to stop getting such great coverage, they'd be less inclined to act ... there's a desire in them to "air their grievance" and illustrate the extreme methods they had to use to address it ...

Exactly, and there are other POS losers out there thinking they can top this.

The whole thing makes me so sick. I just don't understand the mindset of a person that would do something like this. Truly sick individual. I guess on his social media he posts pictures of animals he brutally killed and he also posted that he was going to become a professional school shooter. POS doesn't even come close to describing this guy.

Given the information that has been released about him this far, I'm sure that this kid was taking a cocktail of heavy antidepressants. As have most of the mass Shooters in recent history

We have become a society so quick to throw a pill at a problem, while most time the after effects are worse than symptoms they are treating.

You gotta love the blue & red "police" lights flashing behind the journalist in the studios on CNN.

Do you think CNN could sensationalize it any more? What a crock!

Was just reading that most these mass shooters are on antidepressants, so I wouldn't be surprised.

I think they've found that all - not most - modern day American spree killers are on some cocktail of anti depressants/ anti psychotics... and we've got people like Jimmy Kimmel crying that the president has done "worse than nothing" about gun control...

I'm not anti gun control... my dislike for that conversation is it focuses solely on saving the lives of 17 innocent students instead of trying to figure out how 1 student got to a place where they could do something like this...

You can take away all the guns in the world, all the weapons in the world... Nikolas Cruz still exists and that's as heartbreaking as anything... we created him... a mom and dad didn't create that monster, a society did...

I haven't been watching much, but I did see Anderson Cooper last night and he wouldn't mention the shooter's name.

So, the medicine made him do it?

No clue.
I do know for a fact, that certain SSRIs and tricyclics and other psychotropics can have deleterious side effects to some people, especially when:
Taking multiple medications
Abusing drugs/ alcohol with said medications
Abruptly stopping the medication(s)

Made him do it? Probably not.
Clouded his judgement, his sense of reality and decision making processeses?
Very strong likelihood.

I don't think they "made him do it" but I'd go as far as to guess that they made him capable of doing it when he otherwise would not have been... pure speculation on my part, but I just can't fathom how anyone could show zero compassion for human life and a thirst for human desecration apart from the intervention of some chemical... something made his mind ok with this...

Most of all this makes me sad. I am disappointed that our society is producing these individuals, without any clear idea of why.

I’m not sure about causality here. Presumably there is an underlying reason for taking the drugs which could be more a part of the problem than the drugs themselves. I’m not a big fan of these classes of drugs but I think causality is a stretch.

And I see it’s the press’ fault again too. Im not sur the answer but I rarely advocate for less information because the masses can’t handle it. It sort of smacks as nannyism to me.

Ie it could just as easily the drugs didn’t work, if there were any.

Really? Modern history is loaded with people who, without substances loved slaughtering others: jack the ripper, manson, dozens of serial killers, guys like Mao Zedong, Stalin, Hitler..and that's just a few from modern history!

Pogroms...The Holocaust...ethnic clensing...genocide..

I'm a cynic, i know, but I suspect sadistic killing doesn't require drugs.

"To the cowards who think gunning down an innocent crowd is power, this is the face of Aaron Feis, who stood in the line of fire to protect children that did not biologically belong to him.

This is what real power looks like.
I will remember his name, and I have already forgotten yours.

To the heartbroken masses who have accepted that our new normal includes 8 school shootings with injuries or fatalities in the first 7 weeks of the year, and that the best we can muster is sad resignation, this is the face of Aaron Feis, who took the imperfect moment he was given to stand for the vulnerable.

Thanks be to God for the ones who don't resign their responsibility.

To those in power who argue incessantly about what is the real cause and who is really at fault, and then do absolutely nothing, this is the face of Aaron Feis, who gave up his life to do something, and had to do something, because you have done nothing.

For heaven's sake, try something.
Anything.

And for all the rest of us, do not let the bullies define this world.
Do not let the cowards have the day.
For every one of them, there are a dozen faces like this in the wings.

This is the face of the world I choose to live in, the country I love.

This is the face of Aaron Feis."

Multiple reports say that they were advised in September. They looked into it and didn't find anything.

Checked it out. Seems that's right.

But i still don't think there's an invariable connection between drugs and mass murder.

Drugs are really prevalent these days.

Taking pleasure in murdering people has always existed.

Substitute "guns" for "Drugs".
