I'm quite certain you are like the Einstein of cigars.
You probably know more than all the FOGs here combined.
Now as to your observation that no one is getting any good deals............well..........that's really dependent on a variety of factors, is it not Einstein?

The first of which, is your opinion, which for you, is probably the most valid, and thus important.

But there are several other considerations when trying to determine just what is a "good deal".
MSRP
Shpo prices
Prices at other online retailers
Shipping charges
Availability of the cigar
Buyer's financial status
And so on...

Or, you could just ask DPNewell.

By good deals I'm talking stuff you can buy for at least 10 dollars or more cheaper than you can just buy it at C.I. ignoramus.

This looks like just a place for CI to dump their extra inventory and then give buyers the facade of bidding on it, as if they will get it cheaper but they wont.

And dont talk down to me, I was at this site 10 years ago buying stuff when there actually was good deals to be had

Does anyone here ever get good deals for prices that are substantially lower than just buying the same stuff on CI's website??

I mean, I'm seeing all the same items that CI sells and everything is selling for about the same price. What is the point of the bidding, to save like 1 or 2 dollars per item? Please tell me if you have gotten good deals here and how you go about doing it.

The Free Fall auctions look promising if they let the Free Fall actually go down far enough or does the company just keep protecting their huge profit margins? Any way thanks

But you just said you've been here 10 years buying stuff, and yet you come in here asking how to go about getting good deals??

Geez, maybe you not so smaht after all....

Agree that GNF user name needs help, but that's kinda obvious.

GNF, if you want to better make your point, please provide links of obvious bad deals (i.e., overbidding compared to CI prices).

Prior to the re-design, I was getting very tasty (20%-50% off CI prices) deals on cigars I like. I'm just now testing out the new site and will have a more informed opinion in a week or so. I'll be happy to share this info AFTER my auctions are closed.

This said, if you think this auction site sucks, I'd encourage you to stick to CI or other non-auction sites...as a long-time player, you know that there are lots of good ones The fewer bidders here the better as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, I get good deals. Checked a few recent pick-ups on cbid vs. CI pricing. Saved 62 percent on a free-fall 10-pack plus 30 and 35 percent on two different 5'ers and which overall almost paid for the 10 various singles I purchased at pretty much market price.

I'd say yes or the site would be history. Compare the stock to other on line vendors to get a feel of MSRP, then set limit maximum. after THAT, I forget about the bid. Love the Padrons especially maduro 3000/4000 but can't buy on here.

I know from another thread that you like the CAO Brazilia. Though I'm not a fan of the Free Fall auctions, you can pretty much get 20% off the CI price at this auction:

https://www.cigarbid.com...sto-pack-of-10/2838861/

For whatever reasons, the redesigned site has somehow made the gimmicky Free Fall auctions, which I used to ignore, a place to look for good deals.

Could be.....I haven't checked in depth.
In da olden days, there would be 40-60 FF items......sometimes 100+ on weekends.
There were 2 cigars I'd buy, because the reset price was lower than bid prices here, and the other place.

But now? 600 FF items?
I might look into it a bit more.......but from my quick research....the few things I'd consider buying are not even close to a "good deal".......as evidenced by the number of botl who have purchased said FF items.
In the last 6 days of FF availability..............ZERO purchases.....on 8 different cigars that I'd buy...........that just about says it all.

Yes, I've been bidding lately, and I notice my very low bids that used to occasionally win are no longer winning ever, or getting anywhere CLOSE to winning.

In totally unrelated news, the site just underwent a very expensive full mobile-friendly overhaul.

I'm sure the two things are totally unrelated, of course! Just like the "scary site" recently underwent a very expensive full mobile-friendly overhaul, and all the prices got jacked way up. Coincidence there too, I'm certain!

I'm just REALLY GLAD that I bought mountains of ultra-cheap stuff from both sites before they suddenly got a lot more expensive. They can't jack up the prices of stuff I already own! Herfing

One thing C.I. and Cigar Bid have NEVER realized is that cigars in PACKS should NOT cost more. C.I. & CBid penalize you for buying a Pack of 5 by jacking up the price 10 to 20%. Other online retailers, for the most part don't. If a Box of 25 is $100 then a Pack of 5 is $20. Herfing

What? You make the age-old concept of "volume pricing" sound like some kind of sneaky ripoff. If I'm willing to buy 100 cigars, I expect a lower per-cigar price than if I buy a single. Seems fair to me.

There's algebra...
there's geometry...
there's trigonometry...
there's calculus...

and then there's "RAH's cigar math".

Guess which one is the hardest to learn?

10 years ago you could find a few deals at $5-$10 under the main sites' prices but perusing the auctions lately it seems like theyve turned this place into a farce. The only good thing about the site now is these forums. Theres some good people here and you should avail yourself to their knowledge. Otherwise, CI, you should be ashamed of yourselves for what youve turned the site into.....a blatant money-grab
