I get deals all the time. You have be smart about it. This is not based on luck. Anytime you get GREAT cigars for at or around 2.00 a piece,it's a deal!

Along with several others, I also noticed that, right after the change to the "mobile" layout, the Free Fall "auctions" were often having better deals than the regular auctions.

Not amazing steals on super premiums like you used to see around here, but better prices than the regular auctions and noticeably cheaper than what you would be paying at CI or the other online outlets - barring, of course, a "Monster Deal" on a smoke you like.

Picked up a number of "Daily Drivers" (better than a "Yard Gar" but not as good as a "Swell Smoke" or a "Premium Puff") in bundles for around $2.25 - 2.50 per and the Diesel Rage that I wanted to try for just under $3 on Free Falls. That is with (combined) shipping charges, so not bad deals. This was a noticeable change from before where the FF auctions never seemed to be as good a deal compared to the normal auctions. Of course, it is a pain to have to watch the FF "auctions" cycle through several times to figure out about what the lowest price will be, then wait to bid on them - sometimes having to sit through several "resets" to get to the low price.

Given that the admittedly "gimmicky" Free Fall "auctions" seem perfect for those in need of instant-click gratification, perhaps they have upped the number of FFs and lowered the minimum price on some of them a bit to suck in the newbie cell-phone bidders. That combined with people seemingly bidding up the regular auctions higher than before, have made the FF worth a look if you have the time and patience for them and need to buy something.

Of course this all can change any moment as the computers figure out what the optimum pricing is to keep the cell-phone-clickers hooked, but profits maximized.

I would certainly say the win prices have gone up in the last year and often I see someone so anxious to win that they bid more than the standard CI website price. However, if you set yourself a max price you are willing to pay, you may very well eventually get lucky. In my opinion one has to buy a certain amount to justify the shipping and be very careful to not make bids into multiple shipping periods so as to incur multiple shipping charges. I also have my concerns that a cigar bought at the local cigar shop will potentially have more aging time on it than anything received through the mail from a high volume online dealer. I try to always buy well in advance of planned usage to allow for months of humidor curing time. But that's me and every consumer has to choose his or her own path.

The 2018 crop of noops is rife with overbidders that think they are getting great deals. The big pictures are intoxicating to them.
