Whats bothering your little mind today?

Mine: Seems I now have to sign on to this site about every day. Even after I do, if I want to bid on something, which isn't often, I still have to sign on again. Can' think of another site that requires this much trouble.

Carry on.

Agreed. Figured it was just me. Aggravating, but also give me a second chance to say to myself "Self, just what the hell are you doing bidding on those crappy cigars, anyway?" It's like a little cbid public service.

My rant isn't new today...its been festering for a week:

We live in a townhouse with assigned parking (2 per unit), very few visitor spots and limited street parking within a half mile. One of the kids drove up to visit last week, so I took my car out to find a visitor spot, but none to be had. The house backing up to ours is vacant and for sale. I parked in front of it, but in the morning, I found an empty space where I'd left my car. I talked to the neighbors on either side who claimed ignorance, but did say the owner comes by once a week or so. Tow company had been called ("by owner of the space") at 12:14 AM. No clue who called, but I was mad as hell:

-Who would have a car towed from a space your not using? When, clearly it had to be a neighbor's car? WTF? It could have been one of the folks on that street who's been using the spot since the house is vacant, but still??? WTF?
-If it was the owner, wouldn't they prefer to have a car parked in front of a vacant home to deter thieves, squatters, etc?

-How does a tow company get away with charging $180 for a 3 mile tow and 9 hours of storage??? I think there's some local regulation of rates, but if so, my county is clearly siding with the predatory tow companies.

-And again, wtf kind of people have what is clearly a neighbor's car towed from a vacant space? It's a good neighborhood generally, but this pizzes me off. (We have admonished one of the families on that block about putting trash out days before pickup....I guess this might have been a little payback, but fluck

Soapbox time? Ok! I hate when you go to a restaurant and they really try to push their “Special” of the day on you, then when you ask for a drink, they try to push top shelf ingredients in it. If I want top shelf, I will ask for it in a chilled glass, neat with some sort of chaser.....

Oh, and finally I really hate the restaurants that demand a 30% gratuity on groups over 5 people. Found this in the fine print at an IHOP in Boise Idaho, and not just 30% of your bill, they demanded 30% gratuity of the overall bill from each of us. Needless to say, I have never darkened the door of an IHOP since.

2hrs of grinding and pulling to remove a tooth on Tuesday. Barely any solid food since then, and NO cigars allowed until next week.

Yay to Vodka and Vicodin.

It was a rear molar with a twisted root that wouldn't come straight out. Also had a bone graft put in for an implant later.

I think the epidemic here in Oregon is everyone being biased against tobaccos. Can’t even light up a cigar in Corvallis without getting a dirty look.....

Dang brother, I feel for you, nothing worse than having to hobble up in pain to some poontang.

Just remember when trying to get that Toe Grip to get all up in it. DO NOT WALK OUT OF YOUR SOCKS. Makes the toe that got cut on hurt worse later. Anxious

Seriously, I hope you don't have to suffer to bad.

Sounds like fun. I had one that they had to slit the gums to pull it. The dentist and I both were sweating bullits and he did everything but put his foot on my chest to pull that sucker.

wow...that tooth story brings back memories of having a molar removed and prep work/bone graft for an implant done...2.5 hours of misery: hammering, drilling, scraping...oral surgeon had to pause 3-4 times to let his fingers, hands and arms un-cramp...he actually did sets of chin-ups during the breaks

Chose against going to an oral surgeon because I would have had to wait another 10 days minimum for the appointment. Also would have had to pay up front and wait for the insurance company to reimburse me. What good is the insurance if I have to pay first for the insurance and the procedure, then wait over 90 days for reimbursement if there isn't a fight with the insurance company? Welcome to small town doctors and lack of choice.

Going another 10 days with the increasing pain was not an option..

Am totally against the over-prescription of Opioids.
Doc prescribed five 0.25mg Halcion - 1 to be taken the night before the procedure so I could sleep, 1 to be taken an hour before the procedure. Had to bring prescription into the office so 1 could be taken at the beginning of the procedure in addition to laughing gas. The Doc took it upon herself to destroy 1 of the 2 remaining pills I paid for. Still have one remaining.

Was prescribed Vicodin (5mg Hyrdrocodone/325mg Acetaminophen) for pain. Over the last 2 days I have taken 1 Vicodin - 1/2 tablet each night with a few Vodka Sodas to help me sleep through the night.

Pain management has been controlled with a combination of 400mg Acetaminophen taken 4x a day and 800mg Ibuprofen taken 3x a day. With Amoxicillin 3x a day to prevent infection. Third biggest problem besides pain and lack of sleep has been an upset stomach from all the Acetaminophen. I absolutely hate taking pills because I'm allergic to a compound used to make many prescription drugs. And I can't smoke what's legal in CO to control the upset stomach either. Fourth problem is hunger and not being able to chew solid food.

I am not taking advantage of the State's program offering free needles and Narcan that big pharma companies like yours promote and support. Vodka is cheap, less addictive, and still legal to buy over-the-counter.

Long as your pain is under control and you are comfortable that's all that counts I say.

I can't drink, well not enough to make a difference and acetaminophen is a death sentence for me.

I remember I had a root from a tooth that had grew into my sinus cavity in the Maxilla and became infected. The Dr had only given a little bit of lidocaine for the initial pulling. He ended up breaking my upper jaw from pulling the tooth because of abnormal root growth with no other pain meds, He had to slice open my gum to pack the sinus cavity so infection would not get in it and sew the gum shut. For the next 7 days I was in the fetal position at home the majority of the time and was ready to blow my brains out. So much so that my wife actually had to hide my guns.

The Dr felt he knew best and would not prescribe opioids because he felt the "CHANCE" of addiction and typical side effects was to great. I have Never been addicted,I do not have any hx of addiction of any kind other than nicotine, or have had any strange side effects.

My thoughts PHUG him, PHUG his Practice, PHUG his mid evil ways. Honestly at the time I was in so much pain that if I could have got my hands on him, I would have broke his face and allowed him nothing but water for pain and stood over and watched him suffer while I rubbed one out. Then of course I feel bad because I seriously felt this way. How messed up is that. Funny thing is that feeling still has not subsided over the past few years. I am a bad person I guess. So now that is my Rant for the day.

Hate the A-Holes that call claiming to be the IRS. Even better, had message day before yesterday claiming that I was going to be arrested for four crimes if I did not call and take care of them.

Wonder what take care of them means? Surely, payment of money would not be involved.

Appears TW has a new job.

My personal favorite way to deal with tp, use the very last, then take any remaining rolls and place them at a height over 7’ 6” it builds character for the short people. Needless to say the gal I am currently seeing thinks that I may be a bit of a rogue.

For the phishing calls I've been doing a couple of things:

1. I totally d*ck with them and see how far I can string them along. Could be anything from speaking in my best broken English - Japanese, pidgin English, Chinese, etc. and act as if I can't understand them or misinterpret what they're saying. After a while they figure it out / get frustrated and hang up.

2. If I "miss" the call then I'll call them back and tell them the person they're trying to reach has died. Recently the phishing area code has been 808 - Hawaii - and it's the same MO - they're calling for someone named Heather and trying to reach her about a financial situation that needs to be taken cared of immediately. Sorry, Heather died and everytime you call it makes me sad and I start to think of her and it makes me cry.

Seems to work and odd as it may seem, makes me want to pick up those calls and talk to them!

I know, I know, kinda weird but hey, why not have some fun with it? Wink

Ok so sometime in the middle of the night I got woke up to my wife moving around. I remember her asking if I was OK and I think I said something about I was a bit warm. I remember I was sweating a good bit. I remember she got up to do her routine of heading to the bathroom and such.

I wake up this morning and the freaking AC was on and set to 50 degrees. WTF..... I can cut glass with my nipples and if my pecker shrinks any more I will have a butt hole in the front! Every freaking muscle fiber in my body is hurting like a MF!

I can't make up my mind if she has blew out her last brain cell or if she is just screwing with me.

One can never tell with my wife as we both have a messed up sense of humor. Honestly I can deal with her messing with me vs something not working in her noggin. One brain surgery was enough for her in this lifetime.

I have a rant. Have been dieting and planned an epic cheat night last night. Went to a party where a friend rented out half of a very busy establishment. Ended up being cash bar and the food selection was abysmal. Wasted those precious calories on dog food and Coors light.

Hmm, I feel for you, Gummy. I used to be a Track and field guy in college, I actually lived on a daily diet. Anyway, our coach told us to get ready for a cheat day. He was intending to slow smoke a bunch of ribs and brisket for us, but he wound up having emergency gallbladder surgery instead. We wound up with cheap pizza instead......Blech!

Ok cath I will go with number 6 of best philosophical questions.

6. Can you really experience anything objectively?

There's a difference between understanding the world objectively (or at least trying to, anyway) and experiencing it through an exclusively objective framework. This is essentially the problem of qualia — the notion that our surroundings can only be observed through the filter of our senses and the cogitations of our minds. Everything you know, everything you've touched, seen, and smelled, has been filtered through any number of physiological and cognitive processes. Subsequently, your subjective experience of the world is unique. In the classic example, the subjective appreciation of the color red may vary from person to person. The only way you could possibly know is if you were to somehow observe the universe from the "conscious lens" of another person in a sort of Being John Malkovich kind of way — not anything we're likely going to be able to accomplish at any stage of our scientific or technological development. Another way of saying all this is that the universe can only be observed through a brain (or potentially a machine mind), and by virtue of that, can only be interpreted subjectively. But given that the universe appears to be coherent and (somewhat) knowable, should we continue to assume that its true objective quality can never be observed or known? It's worth noting that much of Buddhist philosophy is predicated on this fundamental limitation (what they call emptiness), and a complete antithesis to Plato's idealism.
