I agree....and my headstrong libertarian side wrestles with the fact that I'd be ok with some sort of compulsory service --- wouldn't have to be military necessarily, but could alternatively be some sort of domestic 'Peace Corps-like' service -- maybe 2 years that must start between 18-20...I might even allow LDS'ers to count their missions as checking the box...maybe

I would not disagree with this approach. I believe Germany and a couple other European countries are setup where you serve a year or two in the military or do a civil service gig and you get to choose.

Frank and David,

I was not saying that everyone should serve but come to think of it probably not a bad idea. Seriously, I have been around the block enough times to know there are many, many individuals that did not serve that do have a grasp on what our liberties and rights mean and cost but many do not.

Was not casting stones at anyone individual, just making an opinionated statement.

I never took it that way. I actually agree with the statement you made. In fact, I agree with Dave's idea that there should be some type of compulsary service after HS, whether it be Military, Peace Corp, Habitat for Humanity, etc.

I took your words the way you meant. I was sincere in my appreciation.

Trump's Peace Making breakthrough "deal" with North Korea appears to be another example of the US getting played by a devious and unscrupulous rogue nation. After all the fanfare, pomp and circumstances, mutual embraces and flattery, the US President was hopeful and effusive in his praise of KJU, and even even gave up joint military exercises with South Korea as a sign of good faith. NK promised to take steps to denuclearize. Instead there's satellite photo evidence that Trump, the best deal maker ever, according to Trump, got punked...

Satellite images show that NK is building back up a nuclear power plant:

https://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/world/2018/06/27/satellite-images-show-north-korea-renovating-nuclear-research-facility/36416641/

US intel reports that NK is producing nuclear weapons fuel at several secret facilities

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/north-korea-nuclear-fuel-missiles-kim-jong-un-donald-trump-summit-war-a8424401.html

Trump now looks like Jack, who gave up his family's prize cow, for a hand full of beans. If only TrumpJack can convert that hill of beans into a beanstalk that makes NK's nukes disappear....No Bell Prize, indeed...

Not happy at all...just pointing out another empty "accomplishment" Trump boasted about, another empty promise Trump made, and Trumpians and con media gave him glowing reviews for his "historic achievement"...

Trump gave in to a big NK demand and we ended military exercises with SK, which the military experts in the area say are vital for readiness in a place where tensions are high...and shortly after, as an intentional show of disrespect for our President, the NK returned to work on their nuclear capacity...this article describes military intel's belief that NK intends to deceive us...not a peep from Trump about the "deal" now...

The reports about the NK ramp up in nuclear production activities was only recently (3-4 days ago?)reported, when satellite images showed they were doing it...no response from the President or Trump media...I thought it was newsworthy so I posted about it...

Hey, I thought it was a good idea to have a dialog, and for Trump to meet with KJU...but for the meeting to have more than an empty symbolic meaning...to just check off a Trump legacy box, there has to be continuous communication ...

There has to be a very pointed conversation expressing our utmost opposition to what is depicted on the sat images...and other NK activities that contradict the memorandum and the supposed content of the agreement that the two discussed...and a discussion about the development of a process to identify and monitor the NK nuclear sites.

welp...after Papo finished and left town, the NK's said the meeting was "regrettable, US has gangster like attitude" ...

doesn't look like we're making any progress...going backwards, despite the "historic Trump-KJU summit" and the concessions Trump made...of course, it's still early...Trump said give it six months before he'll make up some excuse for failure, kinda like he knew where this was heading...

You won't hear it on Trump Media, so you'd think it's fake news anyways, so I won't waste my time and strength...

did Trump's Media show him saying "If I'm wrong about KJU.. I'll stand before you in 6 months and make some kind of excuse" ? I watched for a bit right after that media session in Singapore, but never saw that video...

It seems pretty clear, 'we're not having war games during negotiations'... So if there are no longer negotiations then let the games begin... Mellow
