This was labelled the biggest scandal in the history of politics by our President, who has been supported by nearly all the GOP and most cons since he became President, especially on his news outlet, Fox/Trump News. Am I reading too much into the statements by members of the GOP and members of the broadcast team on the Trump Media channel that expressly debunks his allegation?

Several prominent GOP and con talking heads have gone on record saying there was no evidence that Obama or anyone else used a spy to infiltrate Trump's campaign after the WH was briefed by the FBI. Gowdy even supported the FBI, contrary to the Trump News' constant attacks on its competence and impartiality. Gowdy said it acted professionally and properly with its use of an informant to investigate whether or not Russian influence had infiltrated Trump's campaign.

They have stood by him time after time when he has made blatantly false statements: wire-tapping, no-one in his campaign met with Russians, this is the biggest tax cut for middle class Americans, Russia interference is a made-up story, and ...

Is Spygate a bridge too far that signals an awakening among the GOP, that some now have the courage and honesty to defy this President?

Define 'infiltrate'.....

Not trying to be an azz.....well, maybe a little...fact is that Trump is a wizard at finding words and phrases that can't be called outright lies, but can be interpreted in his 'favor' with a little imagination. Seems clear that FBI had someone contact a person or persons in the Trump campaign org to get info.....the words 'infiltrate', 'spy', 'bugged', 'informant', etc all have enough interpretation wiggle room that it is entirely possible that Trump is more or less correct at the same time that his detractors are more or less correct....as is nearly always the case

I think your estimation of ability of GOP to dissociate are overestimated....BIGLY

Use of "informants" have been an accepted tool used by law enforcement, and some GOP members with "law and order" consciences acknowledge that it is not the same as putting in a spy...

You may be right about Trump being a wizard...he may resemble the Wizard of Oz at the end of the movie, when he fades into history...

Speaking of Trump (but not about Spygate), I think that he has an incredible opportunity to right now that he is likely going to miss. There are a bunch of white nationalist candidates for state and national office right now....stunningly disgusting public rhetoric out of some of them....my jaw has dropped to the floor a couple times recently.

Trump risks nothing but a few fringe deplorables if he publicly denounces one or more of these douchenozzles.....In fact, at least one of them who was a Trumpian, has since denounced Trump for being too easy on minorities (or Israel, or immigrants, or all of the above...I don't recall specifically.)

But Trump could get some serious mileage by speaking out against them....I'm afraid he probably won't....maybe just so as not to call attention to them...IDK...but I hope that he does

I opened this up and the first thing I read was "inflate" instead of "infiltrate" on post 2 and then began reading and realized it nothing to do with the Patriots being accused of something again...
